This is my favorite game ever. In my opinion the best Soccer game ever. However, this game is not for everyone. Let explain. In Japan this game is a smash hit, the arcade game to be in the top ten for the whole year of 99! In 2000 its been in the top three! It got rave reviews when it was ported, 9,8,8,9 and all 9s from the Japanese DC magazine. Furthermore, it outsold Sony's much hyped RPG, Legend of Dragoon, in its first week of release by 2,000. Something like 175,000 to 173,000. However, in the US those sites who imported it hated it, giving it a 5.6,6.5 and a C-. This game is not very popular amongst American gamers who have grown too acustomed to Fifa. The game is very controlled. You can't change players, and you have three buttons, shoot, short pass and long pass. And 2 slide tackles. I love the game. If these things don't seem appealing... rent it first. Play it for a few hours straight even if you don't like it at first, it will grow on you. Watch.

World Wide Soccer 97 & 98 for Sega Saturn was classic games for a person who really knows about the game of football. So when the Dreamcast came out, I rushed to buy the system thinking Sega Sports was going to give me something even better than the soccer games for Saturn. I was wrong, had to return the whole system and the game. Virtura Striker 2 is like going back in time, way back. Graphics and realistic play are non-existant for the Virtura Striker 2. I have a few little things they could of done to improve a top of the line game like World Wide Soccer, they could of added Italian, Americian, German clubs, added snow, and also more countries. The makers of the new soccer game should of also made it possible to trade players and also made it possible to role play thus enabling the player of the system to control the player of their choice, and last of all improve on the graphics which should be done on all new video games.

On the contrary of common misconception, this really is one of the best soccer games on the market at this point. Some people are just mad because the players don't have instantaneous response to the beckon of their mashing of a particulatr button. I hate to break to all of you button mashers, but that's not real life. Basically, for all of you that understand the concepts of physics and know that there's going to be a delay in response of movement, you will really love this game as i do. I won't lie to you though. The game is quite a challenge at first. If you can tough out the first couple of outings, you 'll begin to see it's finer points and start to enjoy the game.

If you love the FIFA series, this is definently not the game for you. With only three action buttons, the game leaves little room for any hope of trick moves, amazing headers, bicycle kicks, or jukes. I just have one question, is it feasible for EA Sports to introduce FIFA to the Dreamcast?

The video game is worse than expected. If we purchase this product thinking of a nice playing an easy to control game, and that should be possible because Dreamcast is the current more powerful console in the market, we will be really dissapointed. It is quite hard to control the own players, and, that implies no fun at all. Graphics can be awesome, but if we want to see realistic movements and not be able to play at all, let's turn on the T.V. and watch a soccer match. This Virtua Striker version is really bad, and I agree with the guy who said that if you have money that you do not know what to do with, give it to carity instead of buying this game. Please avoid this garbage at all cost!

Doesn't play like real soccer. The graphics are good but the play is bad. Don't buy this ... game or you'll end up trying to sell it back!

Oh, the sadness... whimper, whimper,
This review is from: Virtua Striker 2 (Video Game)
*Sigh*-- with tremendous dissapointment, I have to say that the only real soccer title on the Dreamcast console is a terrible dissappointment. It just doesn't stand up as a game, with horrific gameplay absolutely killing any advance made in graphics for this system. Any soccer fan who was loyal to ISS or FIFA before jumping to the Dreamcast platform should NOT, I repeat, NOT, bother with this game... the worst sports title since Virtua Athlete. Oh, the sadness... Dreamcast, when will you find the soccer game worthy of your platform?

This game has ups and downs. i'll start with the ups, it has excellent graphics and the movements of the players and ball is very realistic. From afar this looks like it is better than Fifa 99. The crowds are great the feeling of scoring a goal is great. it is not easy though. the down side of it is that you cannot control anything. it has about a 2 second delay. and it feels more like the computer is controlling than you are. defense you can sit back and do nothing because that is how much control you have. i do not recommend this game to anyone no matter how good it looks.

An Excellent Game,

Based on some of the reviews for this game, I was a little leary about purchasing it. But my kids like soccer, so we bought it.I'm not a big soccer fan, but I love this game and so do my kids. I think I like this game even more than NFL 2K2 and NBA 2K1 (Sacrilege, I know). The graphics are excellent and the gameplay is fast (although a speed burst button would be nice). Some reviewers have criticized the button configuration, but we haven't had any problems (of course my 7, 8, and 10 year olds catch on fairly fast). Others said the game wasn't realistic, but it's like watching a game on TV and the scores reflect this. So far, I haven't been able to beat the COM, even on easy mode, and I think that's another reason for some of the negative reviews (some egos have been bruised). There is very little commentary, but the incredible crowd cheers makes up for that. Buy this game! It's great!

This is the worst soccer game I have ever played. The control is really bad. When your player gets the ball the player "freezes" for about 2 seconds. Avoid this dog at all costs.
