What a disappointment. I got this because my mom and I are huge tennis fans, and we wanted something a little more intense than Wii Sports Tennis to play. But we never even got a chance to enjoy it. Right off the bat, the unnecessarily complicated controls made getting where you wanted impossible. It's like this game was designed for a traditional game console, and was haphazardly made Wii compliant. In order to go up, you have to click the left button. To go left, you click the down button. "Yes" is done with button 2. "No" is done with B. See what I mean? The controls make NO sense. But the headache didn't end there. Once we managed to get to the play screen, we had more complicated controls to deal with. The whole point of Wii is using motion, but for this, all you do is click buttons! There were no fun tennis motions involved. I feel really deceived by the product packaging, which promised a quasi real-life tennis experience. What we got was something we could play and never have to get our butts off the couch. Not fun.

I really want to like this game, so I'm going to give it another shot, try to figure out the controls, and update afterwards.

This game does not play at all like Virtua Tennis 2009 or Wii Sports Tennis. You have to hold the controller parallel with the TV as opposed to the normal perpendicular. You can't even swing the controller in the motion of a tennis stroke to hit the ball. Instead, you just press the A button to hit, and the most difficult aspect of the game is using the +- button to move the player into the hitting zone. In short, if you like regular Wii Sports Tennis or Virtua Tennis 2009, you won't like this. It is misleading in my view to label and sell Virtua Tennis 4 as a Wii tennis game when it shares absolutely nothing in common with any other Wii tennis game I'm familiar with. Absolutely wish I had read reviews before purchasing. This is the worst game I have ever purchased.

I didn't know the carreer mode does not support wii motion plus, so I was a little bit disappointed.
But then I started my carreer and I liked! Virtua Tennis 4 is fun, and actually you can get addicted trying to get more money, fans, and growing your rank to get a better start on the next tournaments.

Conclusion: It's a great game when you just wanna play tennis sitting on the couch. But if you're after more action and a good activity to challenge yourself, I'd recommend Grand Slam Tennis, the best simulation of a tennis match.

The controls on the Wii are crazy. You need to push "2" instead of "A" for every command, and it took me like 10 minutes to even setup a game. Once I did get a game going, it was weird and you had to keep pressing buttons just to hit the ball. It's NOTHING like the tennis on Wii Sports (<--that's WAY better).

I am a tennis player and I love playing virtual tennis 2009. I asked my daughter to buy me this game since I read that Top Spin4 was not for me. This game is a joke. Explain to me why you would only have one section of the game where you can use the Wii motion. Explain to me why I don't get to see my player when I use the Wii motion? I don't understand what moron made this game. Did that person play the game? Has that person ever played real tennis? American's spend too much time on the couch. The Wii was suppose to help some of that problem, well no one told these people because they have take a giant step backward. I have been waiting years for an upgraded tennis game. Something fun and something where you can really move. Shame on you Sega, shame on you.

Could not enjoy this game as much as my other two games Virtual Tennis 2009 and Grand Slam Tennis. It was more complicated, and could not play it with precision. I would not buy this product again.

Disapointing... the former version of Virtua Tennis is better. I use this game just once and probably I'll never use it again. I don't want to use a Wii game like if it was a Play Station 2.
