An average guy,

To the point...I like electronics and gadgets so I take great pride in my home theater first of all. I bought this 3D Converter after I went to an IMAX Theater and experienced real 3D. I knew what I ordered wouldn't be like the IMAX Theater but I thought it would be something like a smaller version, but it wasn't really. Certain parts of movies and games give off a 3D effect, but for the most part 3D effect is minimal and its pretty hard to see if you wear prescription glasses...I had to put my prescription glasses on over the 3D glasses just so I could see the screen clearly. The video games look ok but they aren't even very 3D. I bought specific 3D movies that were supposedly impressive with this converter and I wasn't impressed at all. Another downside to this converter is that it doesn't work on projector tv's and other new styles that have come out...it only works on tv's with the CRT(cathode ray tube), which is the regular tv's that aren't flat screen or LCD, Plasma, etc. I can't upgrade my television or I'll lose my use of the 3D converter. All together, its a neat gadget but its not worth $130.00 at all, and its definately not an IMAX-like experience for me, but I only own a 29 inch Sony Trinitron. Good luck...

VirtualFX 2D to 3D TV Converter Box with Wireless Glasses,

I guess I had to be the first guinea pig on this exciting gadget. First to say on the initial hookup was a little challenge even though its a simple hookup. After I had it hookedup, I tried a regular DVD - Beverly Hillbillies - Movie, changed to ACTION MOVIE MODE and it had a somewhat 3D dimensional, with alot of glass shuttering, making it a little hard to get a good focus on the tv objects. After a few attempts with other movies, it had the same somewhat 3D dimensional as the first movie. I sampled 2 of the 3D movies that was included and had a great improvement, so my thinking is it would have to have 3D movies to get the full 3D Dimensional effect. Which Edimensional claims its for regular movies as well, but I think that is a mis judgement call. After I was done sampling all the movies, I hooked up my XBox game system and "WOW" it was a great improvement, so if you would like VFX for console games, then you may be impressed with this VFX TV converter, but for regular movie maniacs like myself, I feel that you would be dissatisfied as I am with this product. But I feel they are on the right track in bringing a whole new movie experience in the near future, but not at the present or on this product that they claim to have done the impossible. SO the summary of my review is that if you are a gamer and have a CRT 36" or smaller TV you would be impressed with the 3D effects for games, but for movie freaks, wait til they upgrade this product. I'm sure it won't be too long in the near future. I hope this helps...

All I have to say is WOW, this product really makes a huge difference when playing need for speed, ghost recon and most of my other XBOX and PS2 titles. The hookup was easy, just uses regular composite cables, and you're gaming in 3D in no time. Some movies were better than others. Star Wars was awesome in 3D, but some of the slower, dramatic movies weren't as great. I recommend turning of the lights in the room, that really minimizes any flicker. The one downside is no projection screen TVs, so I can't use it on my 56". Overall, very glad I made the purchase.

This system brings your DVDS alive. People say it will not work with HD rear projection-nothing could be further from the truth. I have a Mitsubishi 1080i rear projection.[If you think about it 3D movies & regular movies using special equipment to add depth were shown in theaters by projection.]
It very simple to hook up, but it must be done through S-Video or Imputs-Component connections have three video cables, and this system has one. The directions are EXTREMELY simple, and comes with 2 pair of wireless LCD SHUTTER GLASSES [you can add more because the system can accomodate several people]. If you are using an HDMI hookup, leave it in place and just add this to one of your IMPUTS, that way you can still watch your HD-DVD, or upconvert regular DVDS, though after seeing them in 3D you might not be doing upconversion. To watch regular DVDS in 3D you must have line imput set to 2D which will show a red light-all the other lights should be green. Then its just a matter of picking the right mode for a particular movie, and setting the parallax to get the best results. All movies will not be the same as recording techniques differ. BUT IT REALLY DOES WORK. 3D movies are a different thing altogether. When I put "APT.51 ROBOT MONSTER" in, and set the system for 3D I had two extra CREATURES SITTING IN MY LIVING ROOM. With the supplied demo disc I had a "fly" come out of my TV to within a foot of my nose-this disc gives you an idea of the what to expect with true 3D. Its that simple. Buying a system that was supposed to sell for $750 for only $79 is some kind of DEAL. And if you have questions, just call up Carl-they have excellent customer support. You'll never want to watch anything BUT in 3D. It also works on VHS, video games, and television programming, but I bought it for DVDS as I have a huge collection. Don't wait, they only produced a limited number of units.

Lately I have become obsessed with 3-d movies. So when I heard about this product, I immediately got it, even though the reviews weren't great. I love it! I cannot watch TV the same anymore. Some things look better than others, but it is really amazing.

Works well for me,

This gadget arrived at our home yesterday. We hooked it up to our big DLP TV in the basement and it works beautifully. My children have been using it almost nonstop. They quickly learned how to adjust it and fine tune the image.
When using 3D discs the image jumps right off the screen. With 2D content, it's more like looking through a window. And games look just fantastic. I can't say how much fun it is to play MarioKart in 3D. It's true you're sacrificing some image clarity and there are some transparent on-screen artifacts when viewing 2D material but this is legligible when considering the effect this thing achieves. For those who quibble that this is not "true" 3D, I suppose they could just sit and look at the hologram on their credit cards until a device that suits them hits the market. The only thing I can conclude about those who say this device doesn't work at all is that they either don't have compatible equipment or they're so non-technical as to be the sort who can't program a VCR.

3D imager works pretty dang well...,

This is truly a great buy for the price. Two sets of eyeglasses, and the TV converter. Sorry if you don't have a HDTV or plasma because this system won't work for you. The 3D effect adds lots of depth into the screen. The trick to making the system work perfectly is compensating for the parallax by either focusing slightly beyond the tv (like a normal stereograph), or switching phase on the av-unit and crossing your eyes slightly. I've found without using one of these methods the effect is diminished. Most people will also notice the flickering this is because most CRT's run at 60Hz, but it's only a minor annoyance. The range for the wireless glasses is around 20-25ft. Relive all of your great games in way cool 3D!

At first I couldn't really tell that this thing was working at all until I began to play with all of the buttons. Thats when I began to see the 3d effect of the unit which was really awesome when I watched the included movie with them. Though the reason why I bought them was for video games and it is kind of a double edge sword in that area. It seems to breath more life into some games more than others, I guess thats because of the way that each game is programmed. However, the one thing that made me send the unit back to the seller was the choppy frame rate that I saw in my games. It was cool seeing the games in 3d, but It kind of made some of the games harder as well. In the end, if they fix this issue and come out with a unit with component inputs and hdtv support, I would definitely buy it.

Worth spending $100 than shelling out $1500 for the same thing.,

VirtualFX 2D to 3D Television and Game Console Converter
Here's the ACTUAL description you've been looking for. This is called "Stereoscopic" 3D. The system DOES NOT WORK with any type of HDTV. This is written in the description, so complaints about it not working with their LCD or Plasma Screen just didn't take the time to read all the tech specs first. For "true 3D" with this system, there are a number of dvd's available that work specifically for VirtualFX. "True 3D" usually has Depth in some parts and comes out of the screen in others. As for regular TV, Movies, and Video Games; You will usually get a lot of depth and only a little comes out of the screen. No matter what you watch, here are a few tips for optimal performance: 1) No Wide-screen or letter box content. For CRT TV's you should only watch full screen. 2) Only watch TV or play games In a dark room or at night. Bright rooms induce a "flicker" effect that is NOT pleasant to watch. 3) You should watch on a TV no smaller than a 27" screen. Personally, I recommend a 32" or larger for best performance. 4) Comparison: The new HDTV's advertising they are in 3D work exactly like VirtualFX. The glasses are the same Stereoscopic Shutter Glasses (a little more modern style, but still the same.) It will be TRUE 3D only with content made for that particular HDTV. For anything else you watch or play, You'll still see mostly depth. 5) Takes minutes to hook up and enjoy! Bottom line: If you are a 3D enthusiast like I am, this is worth the money. The System comes with presets for movies, talk shows/news, sports, and video games. Yes, it's just depth, but when it looks like you could just stick your head through the screen to get a closer look; well, that alone is worth it. Hope this helps!
