Product Description

The Thoughts of a Peasant Philosopher Volume III: Virtual Philosophy is the Peasant Philosopher’s latest contribution in his attempts to create a more accessible, practical and reasoned approach to post-modern thought. Working within the simple framework of duality, dichotomy and juxtaposition in regard to the placement of ideas, Jason sets down the final parameters for that mysterious area of balanced thought known to the reasoned and logical as the “middle ground.” Continuing the trend set forth in his earlier works of employing non-traditional forms of investigation and argument, Virtual Philosophy uses sly humor and a collection of thought-provoking essays to illuminate the “middle ground” hidden by today’s fragmented intellectual world.

Virtual Philosophy Book Review

Virtual Philosophy by Jason Werbics is a wholly unique work from a modern-day philosopher that approaches our world and our place in it from an unexpected philosophical point of view. His fresh approach to answering the questions we all have about life and our place in it can probably be best framed by Werbics himself when he states "Fact, fiction and reality will be presented to you on a plate that cannot be described as cold or hot, neither here or there. It could be the world that Nostradamus wrote about or it could be one where Einstein believed: "God does not play dice!" The truth you discover will be your own."

Werbics does what any true philosopher has ever done - he shares his perspective, personal life experience and his observations of it all and most importantly - he questions everything. He presents his view of the world and his place in it in such a way that automatically empowers and enables the reader to do the same thing. In essence, he gives each of us `permission' to take a step back from our life's journey and really look at it; free from the emotional baggage that we each bring to our experiences as past and present events unfold, which creates the possibility for us to see ourselves and the world around us in an entirely new way.

Virtual Philosophy seems to be written with the underlying intent to challenge the reader to not only observe, but also to more clearly define their own journey through this life and what intellectual, physical, emotional and spiritual impact their experience has had on themselves and the world around them. The literary tools he employs change throughout the book, subtly assisting the reader to seamlessly, but distinctly, shift their own thought processes and approach to the subject matter, thereby preventing them from becoming unintentionally trapped in preconceived personal judgments and conclusions.

Above all else, one of the most redeeming qualities for this reader of Virtual Philosophy is the fact that it was written for me. Or you. It completely avoids the use of the typical philosophical jargon and over-used academic references to past philosophers and their conclusions that can stymie any but those who spend their lives immersed in that particular field of study. This is a philosophical book written to amuse, enlighten and challenge the reader to discover their own truth rather than trying to convince us to embrace the author's beliefs. And since at the end of the day, philosophy is really all about the questions we ask because what we know today will most likely change by tomorrow - it succeeds.
