5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic product!
I've purchased the Virtual Pose 3 product awhile ago, and while that product is also excellent for figure artists when they don't have access to a live model, Virtual Pose Duo is even better. Virtual Pose (the CD) allows the user to rotate the model's pose 360 degrees, zoom in/out, and when zoomed in, you have the ability to move around the photo. So if you're zoomed in...

So if you're zoomed in on the face for example, you can move all the way down to the feet with ease. The image quality is fantastic. And for the price, I don't believe you can do any better. Hiring a model can get expensive. When you're unable to afford a live model, or would like live model "access" at hours when a model is not accessible, this is the product you need. It's also a great supplement to life drawing class.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally, How to Draw/Paint Figures Together, February 6, 2007

Virtual Pose Duo, the latest in the Virtual Pose series, takes the next logical step: offering two figures posed together. With couples in every combination (male/female, male/male, female/female), in color photos that can be enlarged with ease and rotated 360 degrees to offer views from every conceivable angle, AND print capability for those artists like me who can't sit and draw from a computer screen for very long without going blind, this new book pushes the envelope in the Virtual Pose series. It's definitely the best one yet.

I have previously purchased a couple of the 'Virtual Pose' series and this is a wonderful addition. I found the system easy to use and as a person who likes to do life drawing and figurative painting but without ready access to a model, it is invaluable.

Though I do wish these series provided more content [most Virtual Poser books and DVDs only have under about 12 poses], I have to say that the quality of the images, the books, the DVD and the models are great. I would buy the entire series. I would like to see varying body types in other editions, including obese/over weight models and people from different ethnic backgrounds though.

4.0 out of 5 stars Virtual pose duo, April 28, 2008

The photographs are in high quality and the quick time cd incredible. I find the models attractive and a good choice. As an artist who constantly requires new material this is a wonderful too. I think however that some of the poses are not suitable for painting classical works. I was hoping for poses that one could use for paintings and drawings that inspire a romantic / classical era with more of an' emotional' feel to it. Take for example the cover picture, although it is beautifully photographed and the models perfect, the pose itself is hard to place in the context of a painting. Obviously different artists have different needs and I suppose for the graphic artist it may be more helpful. Most the poses are vertical and some seated. There are no horizontal or lying postures of the couple to use for vertical paintings. Since I do not know the entire range of Virtual Pose books they may be found in one of the other editions. A good tool to use when wanting to practice perspective, user friendly on the whole.

4.0 out of 5 stars By Far The Best Virtual Pose Edition Available!, February 27, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Virtual Pose Duo: The Ultimate Visual Reference Series for Drawing the Human Figure (Hardcover)
Just as I was about to give up on the Virtual Pose series of art books, I come across this gem of an edition. I must swallow my pride and be honest. I admit that this is a good product. I truly feel that the partnered model poses in this book are among the most dynamic and beautiful available in any product this kind. The pose featured on the front cover is just breathtaking! Where most products of this kind basically have two models just standing together without much interaction, VP Duo has both models interacting in a dynamic manner. Most poses look natural and not "posed". It also doesn't seem to be much censoring (at least not obvious) of the female body parts in the book or disk (unlike the rest of the VP series). Hopefully, future books will have the space to include poses with more diverse male and female body types, ages and ethnicities. Maybe 3-4 models interacting in one pose! My hat is off to the publishers of this edition of Virtual Pose. It's much better than the other editions in the Virtual Pose series! I will eat my words and add this edition of Virtual Pose to my library. I'm sure it will be a nice resource for many years to come!

Might as well be photographing a blender or toaster in the round.

Take art classes... work with live models... this garbage is just a gimmick.

This is the second Virual Pose product I've purchased, and I'm not disappointed at all. It's a great tool for artists of all sorts. I'm an aspiring 3D modeler/animator, and the models were great help for seeing the many angles as reference.

5.0 out of 5 stars A master[iece is the new duo, February 6, 2007

This review is from: Virtual Pose Duo: The Ultimate Visual Reference Series for Drawing the Human Figure (Hardcover)
This book of poses is masterful in it's concept and in it's exceqution. It stands above any other book of it's kind in the positioning of the partnered models. I found the book exceptionally usefull. They need to come out with a book of looking up and looking down at the models, but then that has already been done by others. I just cannot say enough good about this most excellant book and I have been an artist for aver 50 years. GRG

4.0 out of 5 stars Good product but could be better., February 8, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Virtual Pose Duo: The Ultimate Visual Reference Series for Drawing the Human Figure (Hardcover)
This is a good product for artists interested in the human figure. I do have some issues with it, though.

There are only three sets of models female/male, female/female and male/male. All of the models are white. I would really like to see more models and greater diversity.

One of the male/male models is really not appropriate, imo. He's oddly proportioned with unusually broad shoulders, a small head and tree-trunk thighs. He's really hairy, obscuring the body lines. He's covered in really unfortunate blemishes, including what appears to be a huge hickey on his chest. He has a really flabby body with very little muscle definition. In some poses where his body is twisted there are fat rolls which upset the line of his body. He just is not at all appropriate as an art model. His partner in the poses, on the other hand, is perfect. It's too bad these poses lose some of their usefulness because of this because the poses themselves are actually good.

Despite these flaws it is still a valuable resource for artists.
