Mere months after the release of their devastating reunion album, "Accept" guitarist Herman Frank has just released a new studio release under the name of "Poison sun". Having debuted his solo career in 2009 with the mind blowing "Loyal to none", Frank now teams up with his wife, vocalist Martina Frank for a female fronted version of his trademark sound. The line up is completed by bass player Stefan Hammer and drummer Florian Schonweitz.

One has to acknowledge that the guitarist has managed over the past few years to come up with and reinvent himself from album to album. It has to be said however that even though "Poison Sun-virtual sin" has practically identical production and similar songwriting to "Loyal to none" it does not match the performance intensity of its predecessor.

The rhythm section is rich and upfront, yet not quite the drum/bass mayhem of the previous album, while Frank in a way puts aside his thick/sped up riffs in favor of some more hard rock licks. The debuting Martina Frank is actually a very competent vocalist, expectedly in the "Doro"-style of singing. The songwriting is also consistent with a fair amount of standouts "Hitman", "Voodoo", "Rider in the storm" and "forever".

Overall "Poison Sun -Virtual Sin" is actually a colorful and high quality melodic metal album that stands true to the Herman Frank's trademark sound of his "Victory" and "Sinner" days, however it is not quite at the same level as "Accept-Blood of Nations" or "Herman Frank- Loyal to None". For fans of "Victory", "Sinner", "Accept" and of course Herman Frank, this is a satisfactory purchase.

"Metal Hammer" Greek magazine (issue 311) marks this album with 6/10 commenting: "...Herman Frank's guitars are guarantee of quality"
