Daniel J Treier is Associate Professor of Theology at Wheaton College, Illinois, USA. A contributor to the recent Dictionary for Theological Interpretation of the Bible, he has also co-edited two books with Mark Husbands.
B. Birk's review is not only too short but it is misleading. Treier's volume is an excellent resource for those interested in the discussion of theology as wisdom, theological education, and what has become known as theological exegesis. As summarized elsewhere, Treier "connects wisdom in theological education to the theological interpretation of scripture, giving rise to a renewed understanding of the role of virtue in each." However, the book is not limited to these topics. Overall, it is clear, engaging, and well reasoned (these qualities can also be found in his Introducing Theological Interpretation of Scripture [Baker Academic, 2008]). Please don't let Birk's review lead you astray.
