5.0 out of 5 stars Recommended for anyone who deals with children, August 23, 2005

I own the "Family Virtues Guide" which lists 52 virtues and how you and your family can discuss and apply them to your lives. It uses quotes from all major religions and is very spiritually based. This book on the other hand also has 52 virtues but is more secular and adaptable for the general public. It has a great introduction to speaking the language of virtues instead of using criticism to change behavior and encourages you to learn this new habit. It also has ideas on classroom or entire school projects to encourage the use of your virtues. Each virtue has an explanation, why we should practice it?, how to practice it?, life examples of what the virtue would look like, signs of successs, an affirmation, activities, reflection questions, poster points and quotes. This is a great book for individuals, families and groups and it's not just for children. It's just a helping hand in creating a 'culture of character'.
