Book Description

December 14, 2000
An anthology of bizarre erotica that push the limits, taking you on a provocative thrill ride of hilarity and perversion. From decapitated heads to two-faced dwarves, these stories will shock, tantalize and still manage to turn you on. With stories from dark and sexy minds such as Carol Queen, Lydia Lunch, Thomas S. Roche, Blag Dahlia, Cecilia Tan, and Jarboe, Viscera is the blood and guts of erotica.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"I predict that Viscera is going to take the genre of erotica into a whole new direction. The stories did more then just turn me on - they made me shudder and laugh at alternating times. Well-written and always thought provoking, I recommend this collection to any reader interested in exploring the boundaries of eroticism and what may be considered by many as taboo." -- Kathleen Bryson, Erotic Fiction Editor, Virgin Publishing

"These days, perversity rules. And this book gives it too us hard, the way we like it." -- R.U. Sirius, Author of Design for Dying, co-founder of Mondo 2000

2.0 out of 5 stars Viscera, May 17, 2002
This review is from: Viscera (Paperback)
I think that the book was appropriately named, because some of the reactions that I had where exactly that ....visceral. I understand what Cara Bruce was trying to accomplish and did accomplish. It was to take you to the brink of the taboos we have about sexuality. I always welcome a new approach to writing, and I especially enjoy erotica. Unfortunately there were a few stories that crossed the line for me. The only thing I could compare it to would be if you were to read a story from the perspective of the police officers that commited the rape of Abner Louima and how much fun they had while engaging in the act. If that sort of thing turns you on, then you should have no problem reading and enjoying the stories in this book. It is not a book for the weak or squeemish.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not just another collection of "erotica", May 28, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Viscera (Paperback)
Sometimes hilarious, sometimes grotesque, the stories in "Viscera" are sure to evoke extreme emotion in readers, unlike the stuff that usually passes as "erotica." This book is not for the faint of heart or the humorless. The writing throughout is consistently excellent and the concept itself is truly unique and exciting.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Sick, September 3, 2002
This review is from: Viscera (Paperback)
If you're like me, sick and twisted is a good thing. Lately everything that I've been reading promising to "shock" me bored me to tears. This book, for the most part, lived up to its promise. The first few stories were great. There were a couple that seemed pointless, but on a whole it satisfied my filth craving. Wouldn't recommend to the squeamish.
