Oh well. I expected that the tool was made in the USA, as advertised. But it was made in China.

I am so tired of finding my favorite tools now being made in China! These pliers are sub-standard quality, poorly made, and just as expensive as the original USA made good ones! Look elsewhere...maybe you can find one MADE IN THE USA somewhere!

Irwin Tools bought out Vise-Grip and moved production of this once great tool line to China. In fact, Irwin makes pretty much everything in China, then has the guts to make commercials touting celebrating Americans working. Well, they certainly aren't working making Irwin tools anymore. No locking pliers that I know of are still manufactured in the U.S. Head to e-bay for the good ones while you still can.

Save your money and buy one of the no name brand locking pliers. My last two sets of vise grip pliers are now made in china. The adjustments are gough and the threads feel gritty. In fact the chineese made husky pliers I got from Home Depot work better. I am sooooooooo upset that i can not get USA made locking pliers anymore... Time to boycot the tool makers that switch from USA to china....

What used to be an American original, with pride and quality, has been turned into complete junk, to put it nicely. I'm an auto mechanic and use vice grips quite a bit. The jaws on these pliers are so soft, the serrations wear down and then they won't hold anything. i think my last pair lasted a year. I didn't know at the time of purchase these are made in China! Yet marketed as being American made. I don't have Chinese tools in my tool box, if I wanted Chinese stuff i'd go to Harbor Freight, buy a comparable pair for 1/3 the cost, and scrap them when i'm done with them. If you want quality, look elsewhere. I purchased a pair of Knipex pliers to replace these and I love them. They cost a little more, but quality usually does.

UPDATED 5/2/14
I have tried out gripping pliers from Knipex and Grip-on. Hands down the grip-ons are the way to go. Snap-on's pliers are rebranded grip-ons. Super hard jaws, so far I have not even put a mark on them! I'm impressed. I bought the Snap-ons for the warranty if I need it, but if you don't have access to a tool truck the grip-ons are sold on Amazon. Made in Spain. Highly recommended.

Like all vise-grip products, this is top quality. Sturdy and handy, but light weight enough to handle easily, and strong enough to complete the job.

Vise grip has always been the industry leader in this type of tool. I am a professional mechanic with over 40 years experience and after trying to find a better tool I always go back to my tried and true "Vise Grips"

Nice locking pliers. Vise-Grip's are the only pliers that have taken the hammer abuse without spitting out. The jaws are knurled sharp so they bite hard and don't let go. Very intuitive engineering. I have a few that are rusty and have taken hard misuse throughout the years that work just as well as the day I bought them. Vise-Grip set the bar, nothing else comes close. Buy these!
