5.0 out of 5 stars Star Party Club Favorite
On cloudy nights, our astronomy club members bring interesting programs among other antidotes to help while away the time in hope of cloud breaks. Thusly I have seen more than my share of astronomy type programs good and bad. A member brought "the visible universe" in which I had not previously viewed and immediately liked it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Careful - play the trailer before renting this!
I am changing this review to be more helpful. I gave it two stars because the text blurb didn't explain that this is a slideshow set to music, not a true movie.

WATCH THE TRAILER and see if you like it.

If you watch it on Instant Video, you'll need to let the high resolution kick in (which usually takes a minute or so), or it will look terrible.

5.0 out of 5 stars Star Party Club Favorite, April 10, 2009
This review is from: The Visible Universe: A Visual Journey Through Space and Back in Time. NASA - Hubble Space Telescope (DVD)
On cloudy nights, our astronomy club members bring interesting programs among other antidotes to help while away the time in hope of cloud breaks. Thusly I have seen more than my share of astronomy type programs good and bad. A member brought "the visible universe" in which I had not previously viewed and immediately liked it.

What I liked was that it panned and zoomed to all the interesting points of objects that I know to be interesting from my own research and observations. The pictures were clear and the detail was fine, most pictures were Not over zoomed, nor did they pass to quickly. The music was very well done, albeit strange and unique in an upbeat fashion. We watched it twice back to back that evening, the later muted. Since then, I have purchased this program and view it regularly, usually in the background.

I would suggest that this program is geared towards virtually any person even remotely interested in astronomical objects in space. It is not in itself educational the way a fully narrated program is, rather an introduction tool to what exists in the seemingly endless space of our night skies.

I give it 4.5 stars since the program is not perfect, but Amazon allows for only a rudimentary rating system so I do as most and average up.

For our astronomy club, this program, as well as similar programs at the right price are ideal, thus it fills the room with light and color while we wait for clear skies.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hubble Space Telescope images are brilliant!!!, January 24, 2008

This review is from: The Visible Universe: A Visual Journey Through Space and Back in Time. NASA - Hubble Space Telescope (DVD)
I rather enjoyed this DVD. The DVD images are stunningly brilliant in color and clarity. The music was very well done with sort of a groovy motion slide show thing going on. Since i've seen it half dozen times already, I would certainly recommend this to any space enthusiast.

4.0 out of 5 stars Better than Expected - Outstanding!, April 4, 2009

This program actually surprised us. All imagery is very vivid and in perpetual motion which is in contrast to other DVD's we bought. The music was varying and overall added to the experience. It seemed like the makers were trying to set a different mood throughout the program. Overall, we're glad we got it. Now we just need a bigger TV...

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Beauty!, April 9, 2009
This review is from: The Visible Universe: A Visual Journey Through Space and Back in Time. NASA - Hubble Space Telescope (DVD)
Amazing Beauty! My youngest son recently 10 seems nearly fanatical about everything space and Nasa related these days, so this was a birthday present and thankfully he loved it.

I watched it "once" with him (just to make sure it was okay), but have heard it in the back ground countless times since then.

The additional features has music which is a bit too hard for my ears, but the main program "visual journey" was good. The color was very rich, and the picture details and movement looked very good on our big screen. We don't buy many DVD's, so I'm glad this turned out okay.

5.0 out of 5 stars Space nut review, March 23, 2009
My daughter is a space nut and loved the amazing collection of space images. The music, which I prefer, is exceptionally good and fits very nicely in the context of this music DVD.

4.0 out of 5 stars so amazing, March 23, 2009

What awesome pictures of space! The music wasn't my favorite but just turn the sound off and play a CD you like if that's an issue. My kids sat in amazment to what God has made in outer space. A great discussion starter for what the beauty of Heaven will be like!

5.0 out of 5 stars I Liked it - What's with the long title though???, June 5, 2009
This review is from: The Visible Universe: A Visual Journey Through Space and Back in Time. NASA - Hubble Space Telescope (DVD)
The music was fine, as were the images. Little titles for the moving images with a few names i could recognize. It was a good program without the pre-sales hype - unlike some of the other ones which i dare not provide feedback for. Trying to keep my aura positive this year. They say it makes one live longer - we'll see. Have fun.
