I have been cleaning digital sensors since 2001 and it takes both a well designed fabric for picking up the particles and a good cleaner that can loosen even the oil particles that are sometimes found on the sensors. I do not know where the oil particles come from but suspect it is involved with the shutter mechanism of the camera. Neither Eclipse sensor cleaner formulation was able to remove this oil but the Visible Dust Smear Away product took care of it with no difficulty.

I have since switched to using only Smear Away as it is more effective and requires only 3-4 drops per sensor cleaning session and see no reason to have 2 different types of sensor cleaners on hand.

I admit i was overly apprehensive about cleaning my sensor after all the scare tactics used by camera manufacturers, and those may be just tactics, meaning they are probably not kidding as jees, we all know people who can't answer a smart phone, let alone clean the most important part of the camera, if you are this person, send it in.
As the way I do things I looked up what I could find, read reviews, and bought, at three different times, Eclipse, Eclipse E2, Visible Dust Smear away, and orange swabs, and a whole kit on top to put everything in, spent $100, somewhere in there, more if you count the Arctic butterfly but I already had that, it worked awesomely but i wouldn't get two tiny "old wet pollen?" spots so away I went buying cleaning stuff.
the visible dust worked great, spots were gone immediately, and left zero smear! but, I need the eclipse to get off all traces of cleaner, now, this was my first time so maybe I'll get better, but this took 4 swabs and two, 3 actually (I may have used E2 in there) but what I am trying to get at, is DONT just put all yur eggs in one basket, this is pricey pricey stuff, my ellipse bottle will most likely last 10 or more years, and will use it to clean lenses also, this my let that long too I guess, but its too expensive period to get 5 stars, not when even by their website you need more then one kind to really get it clean, another is they recommend the lesser swab, the green ones for smear away, but when U get it it states "put a few drops on orange or green swab" so that was good, it was the only swab I had, there own site said the orange or the cleanest best swabs made, BTW all VD seems overpriced, but it is made to some high standards in Canada so its not like they empty water into the containers, its 99.999 percent clean.
