Book Description

The gift of sight comes at a dangerous price

When Deep Down Salvage begins the hunt for the Josephine Marie, it seems like any other dive . . . until Genevieve Wallace sees the vision of a dead woman in the water, her vacant eyes boring into Genevieve's very soul.

Terrified and confused by what she saw, Genevieve is haunted by the memory, but no one -- including her diving partner Thor Thompson -- believes her. When a dead woman washes up on shore, everyone assumes this is Genevieve's "vision," but Genevieve knows the truth: the dead woman is not the ghost she saw but another victim of the same brutal killer.

Sensing that the threat of death is coming closer, she and Thor are forced to acknowledge that some things can't be explained, but simply are. Somehow they have to link a violent past with a present-day mystery or risk losing themselves in an abyss of terror.

From Publishers Weekly

In this swift romantic thriller from bestseller Heather Graham, diver Genevieve Wallace becomes embroiled in a mystery after she sees the body of a woman floating 50 feet below the ocean's surface, reaching out with dead hands. Gen is a member of a Florida Keys diving team searching for the wreckage of the Marie Josephine, a 19th-century ship rumored to carry a pirate cache. Gen is the only one to see the body, and fellow diver Thor Thompson doesn't trust her. His reluctance to work with her, however, gives way when their attraction sparks a steamy affair. Thor refuses to believe Gen's sighting until he wakes to find seawater inexplicably soaking into Gen's bedclothes and floor. When a different woman's body washes ashore, and evidence indicates there's a killer on the loose, the paranormal craftily collides with reality, and the meaning behind Gen's vision begins to come into focus. Graham's rich, balanced thriller sizzles with equal parts suspense, romance and the paranormal"all of it nail-biting. (July)

From Booklist

When two groups of divers unite for a salvage operation off the Florida Keys, activities are thwarted first by Genevieve's sighting of something she thinks is a female ghost, then by a woman's corpse. The director of the operation, Thor Thompson, cannot deny his growing attraction for Genevieve, but he, like the others, does not believe her until the ghosts haunting the area make their presence felt to all. In the meantime, dead bodies keep piling up until the divers realize that there's a serial killer is in their midst. Just about everyone comes under suspicion until the real killer is revealed in a predictably dramatic ending where he captures Genevieve, who is rescued by Thor, and the ghosts step in. A bit slow and creaky, this isn't Graham's best, but that won't faze her many fans. Mary K. Chelton

More About the Author

New York Times and USA Today best selling author, Heather Graham was born somewhere in Europe and kidnapped by gypsies when she was a small child. She went on to join the Romanian circus as a trapeze artist and lion tamer. When the circus came to South Florida, she stayed, discovering that she preferred to be a shark and gator trainer.

Not really.

Heather is the child of Scottish and Irish immigrants who met and married in Chicago, and moved to South Florida, where she has spent her life. (She has, at least, been to the Russian circus in Moscow, where she wished she was one of the incredibly talented and coordinated trapeze artists.) She majored in theater arts at the University of South Florida. After a stint of several years in dinner theater, back-up vocals, and bartending, she stayed home after the birth of her third child and began to write. Her first book was with Dell, and since then, she has written over one hundred and fifty novels and novellas including category, suspense, historical romance, vampire fiction, time travel, occult, horror, and Christmas family fare.

She is pleased to have been published in approximately twenty-five languages, and has had over seventy-five million books in print. She has been honored with awards from Walden Books, B. Dalton, Georgia Romance Writers, Affaire de Coeur, Romantic Times, the Lifetime Achievement Award from RWA and more. Heather has also become the proud recipient of the Silver Bullet from Thriller Writers. Heather has had books selected for the Doubleday Book Club and the Literary Guild, and has been quoted, interviewed, or featured in such publications as The Nation, Redbook, Mystery Book Club, People and USA Today and appeared on many newscasts including Today, Entertainment Tonight and local television.

Heather loves travel and anything that has to do with the water, and is a certified scuba diver. She also loves ballroom dancing. Each year she hosts the Vampire Ball and Dinner theater at the RT convention raising money for the Pediatric Aids Society and in 2006 she hosted the first Writers for New Orleans Workshop to benefit the stricken Gulf region. She is also the founder of "The Slush Pile Players", presenting something that's almost like entertainment for various conferences and benefits. Married since high school graduation and the mother of five, her greatest love in life remains her family, but she also believes her career has been an incredible gift, and she is grateful every day to be doing something that she loves so very much for a living.

4.0 out of 5 stars If you like "otherworldly" suspense and romance, this is a good read!, July 7, 2006
This review is from: The Vision (Mass Market Paperback)
Genevieve Wallace is a profesional diver in the Florida Keys and while on a dive sees a woman obviously dead but seeming to speak to her saying "Beware." Nothing like that has ever happend to Gen before and she is totally spooked. Since she is normally very level-headed and professional the other divers and cops called in search for the body but none is found.

Thor Thompson, the leader of the operation to find the mid-19th century ship Marie Josephine, is a very practical and logical guy and is not only skeptical of Gen's report of a body but also concerned that she is a diver who will panic plus affect the rest of the crew. Despite himself he finds that he is attracted to her -- on a purely physical plane, of course!!

A body of a woman in white with blond hair is washed up on the beach. Gen begins having "dreams" of her ghost and pirates and waking up soaked with seawater and as she and Thor start to get involved, she with her friend Audrey's help brings in Adam Harrison and the Blackhawks, Nikki and Brent, from a previous novel of Ms. Graham's "Ghost Walk."

Soon the hunt is on but is it for treasure? To put a ghost to rest? Or find a serial killer?

Some holes in the plot but lots of twists and turns to make an enjoyable read!

5.0 out of 5 stars A really great book!, July 20, 2006
This review is from: The Vision (Mass Market Paperback)
I just finished reading this book and it was very good throughout the entire book. There were times that I couldn't put it down. The times when I could were when I was going to bed or going to work. I have enjoyed several of Heather Graham's books with no disappointments.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of her best!!!, August 19, 2006
This review is from: The Vision (Mass Market Paperback)
This was one of Heather's best books yet. I love the way she brings in characters from her other books.

Ms. Graham has a way of making her characters come to life. In each and every book, no matter where the setting is placed, I would love to visit.

I love to read for entertainment. A Heather Graham book never fails to give me that pleasure.
