A winning cell phone for Sprint PCS,
By
This review is from: PCS Vision Picture Phone Sanyo PM-8200 Red (Sprint) (Wireless Phone)
The last PCS cell phone I owned was the venerable SCP-8100 from Sanyo. It was a cute little phone that was the second cell phone from any U.S. carrier that could take pictures. (The first-ever model was the SCP-5300 also from Sanyo, released in July 2002.) The PM-8200 addressed two shortcoming of the 8100: 1) camera quality, and 2) speakerphone. The 8200 sports a higher-resolution built-in camera. Picture quality is also improved. The old 8100's pictures often had streaks and distorted colors. The 8200's pictures look much better. The speakerphone is definitely a great addition for those of us who like to multi-task yet dislike headsets. The volume and clarity could be a little better, but given the compact size of this phone, it's not bad. Reception on the 8200 is great, thanks to its external antenna. Battery life is good, unless you save a lot of things in memory, which depletes battery faster the more stuff it holds. The phone is attractive and can be customized in many ways, not to mention it comes in three colors. To Sanyo, I suggest you use the iPod Mini color scheme, because not many people like big red! In summary, the 8200 delivers lots of improvements over the already-excellent 8100. If you have Sprint or plan to get Sprint, this is the phone. If you want video recording, check out the Toshiba phone for Sprint.

I switched my two Sanyo 8100 model cell phones AFTER TWO YEARS WITH NO PROBLEMS for the newer up-graded 8200 and although we loved the 8100's, the 8200's are even better with a speaker phone, more better, faster everything it seems and the all new colors! From what I have seen in just a few days of use, the 8200 stands up to all the claims made by Sprint and Sanyo.
GREAT PHONE!

I am impressed. I yet have tacked down every usable feature.
I know that the hinges are not SO STRONG.But the overall con- cept a cell phone with a camera and a speaker. Plus able to get information on the world wide web. I can attest to that. That getting info.. on the internet can be achieved using the sanyo 8200.

I bought this phone 5 months ago. It has alot
of great features, and I like everything about it, exept the color. It's more of a pinkish red, than a cherry red. So if you're a guy like me, do yourself a favor, buy a different color!

very surprised with the 5 star ratings i saw...
very cool phones, we had 2, but......even tho it had all the new features we decided we couldnt live with the poor sound quality when using it in regular talk mode..i kept finding myself saying "what" and "I didnt get that", very frustating.(sprint service)we took them back in 2 weeks and exchanged them for 2 samsungs, thats what we had before, but of course we got the new models, 680's, very very happy with them..if you want clear conversations, try them at the store, I've found almost all the samsungs to be great, our last ones gave us great service for about a year and half.for us clear phone calls are the most important feature.

A Kid's Review
This review is from: PCS Vision Picture Phone Sanyo PM-8200 Red (Sprint) (Wireless Phone)
A phone that finally offers a color variety. It's nice to take a vacation from the plain silver phones that everyone has. This is a phone that's compatible with almost any lifestyle. Whether you're a working adult or a playful kid. The Sanyo MM-8200 has everything needed, plus more. It includes a built-in camera with a flash; a large, square LCD that allows easy reading; easy-to-read graphics; and helpful add-ins such as the R-Link walkie-talkie system. Overall, it's a great phone, and well-worth the money.

I had got the 8200 for my birthday. its a great phone and all such as taking great pictures having good service and looking real good. the only bad thing about this phone is if you buy it get a extended battary pack and by a covor case because it srach up easy. instead of that its a great phone the only reason i sold it because i went and bought the treo 600. Ps the ring tones are not as loud as they should be.

I buy new cellphones as soon as Sprint introduces them, if not before, and without regard to when I last bought cells. In short, I've gone through a lot of cellphones like an addict.
Sanyo's 8200 replaced Toshiba's most recent intro and is the hands down winner when it comes to photo quality and video. The only thing wrong with the SprintPCS version of 8200 is its continued inability to link itself to Etrade for online investors, once commonplace. But the 8200 can't be faulted. It's a clean winner over any cells out there at this time.

This little expensive item provided happiness as a Christmas gift to my wife in 2005. It was the color of phone (regardless of manufacturer) that she had her eyes set on so that gift was an easy selection. In over a year of usage, the phone is still working great, the battery has been replaced and she is still happy. That's the bottom line.

horrible ringtones, downloads bad, poor reception,

i have had this phone since june. i thought it was sprint that was so awful in my house until i had friends visit from texas who had the samsung phone with sprint, and could talk on the phone for a half an hour in a spot in my house i could not even get a dial-out to go through.
the download ringtones are too quiet; set at the highest volume the sound quality is bad. feature-wise, the volume settings are poor, as are the choices for the vibration/non vibration. i think the software is okay, and the screen is good. the camera is a nice one, and it looks pretty good, although the phone i think is thicker than most. i would stay away from this one, period. |
