Editorial Reviews

Review

In a future defined by a series of giant quakes that brought new lands up from the bottom of the sea, humans have discovered the powers of both mind and spirit. An android type known as the Black Guard, created to protect humans from danger, develops its own independence and a hatred of its former human charges. Young Cole Lazerman may hold the key to resolving the approaching war for the world, provided he can attain his full destiny. The co-creator of the Quantum Leap TV show has launched her own visionary sf series featuring a hero with a tragic past and a complex and uncertain future. Combining high-tech sf with New Age philosophy and mysticism, this series opener should appeal to fans of sf adventure with a metaphysical underpinning. For large collections. --Library Journal

Product Description

Readers are invited to embark on a journey to a brave new earth, set in the not-too distant future where humanity has just begun to remember the limitless powers of the human mind and spirit. It is a time when the balance of universal forces travel at the speed of thought and hangs precariously on the edge of choice. Readers will enter a future where man's genius has created entire new species and unleashed an enemy whose presence can only end in an epic battle between the forces of good and evil. Through the eyes of a reluctant young hero, readers are invited on an odyssey that will define the future in the Age of Light. Remember the powers of imagination and with it manifest into reality the world of the Vision Quest.

5.0 out of 5 stars Innovative and Entertaining New Sci-Fi, October 15, 2007
The Vision Quest is a hugely imaginative work, presenting a captivating and deep new world to get utterly lost in. I personally really liked the post-distopian approach of the world, giving a nice balance between the horror or tragedy and the hope of rebirth.

The main cast of characters are all accessible and multi faceted, with this book setting them up for a journey that will no doubt captivate a huge audience and lead the series to become a prominent force in science fiction.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Vision Quest soars!, October 15, 2007
I love this book! So full of science fact and future. From the opening moments, the thrill ride was on. By the time these wondrous characters got to Tosadae, I couldn't put it down. Where's book 2!

5.0 out of 5 stars Filling the VOID, October 15, 2007

Thank you Deborah Pratt for creating something to fill the VOID (fellow readers of TVQ will know the pun is thoroughly intended) in the realm of spiritual scifi. Can't wait for book two. Highest recommendation!
