Good, Over-looked 80s Soundtrack,
By
This review is from: Vision Quest (Audio CD)
I didn't really like the movie, Vision Quest, but the soundtrack is really good. It's likely to appeal to two audiences: 1) Madonna fans, and 2) 80s rock fans. There's a nice balance between pop (Madonna, Style Council), pop-rock (Journey, John Waite, Foreigner), and hard-rock (Dio, Red Rider). Of course, everyone's probably heard Madonna's "Crazy for You," which was her first hit ballad (unless you include "Borderline"). It still sounds great, and is really quite beautiful and sweet. You may not, however, have heard her second song on the soundtrack - "Gambler." It's more of an up-beat pop song. Although it's clearly not one of her best efforts, I think that this soundtrack is the only place to get it. My other favorite song on the CD is Dio's "Hungry for Heaven." I'm not a Dio fan, but this song is more melodic and poppy than most of their stuff - it's really great. If you like other 80s soundtracks (e.g., Flashdance, Footloose), you'll probably really enjoy "Vision Quest."

A Great Psyche Tape,
By Jason C. (Connecticut, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Vision Quest (Audio CD)
Well, back in high school I had the tape. I used to listen to it on the way to cross-country meets to get psyched up. There's just not a bad tune on this album. "Only The Young" is the greatest song Journey ever recorded. It was also the last one they recorded with the line-up from the Frontiers album. I also consider it the best song on this album. But all of them are worth a listen.

I like it because it always pumped me up when I was young. Lunatic Fringe was a great song to ride and run to.

Left Out,
By RON (Phoenix,Az.) - See all my reviews

Liked the album & movie but in the soundtrack they should have dropped Don Henley's "She On The Zoom " ( weak song) for Berlin's "No More Words" which was in the film but not included on the soundtrack. Well, at the very least should have added the song to it.

80's Soundtrack,
By
This review is from: Vision Quest (Audio CD)
Very good 80's soundtrack covering a lot of different styles of music from that era. Features the very hard to find Madonna song "Gambler" I don't know why this song was never a radio hit, maybe because the opening of the song sounds a lot like "Maniac" from Flashdance.
Standout track: Change by John Waite featuring a young Patty Smythe from Scandal on background vocals.

I love the song Hungry For Heaven by Dio, one of his best.
Journey does a great song in Only the young. I finally found Lunatic Fringe! It's on the radio all the time and it drove me crazy when I didn't know what it was. Get it; very good soundtrack.

Must have for wrestlers,
By C P Bechtler (Middletown, RI United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Vision Quest (Audio CD)
I'm not much of a soundtrack fan but this is a must have for any wrestler. As a Jr. High Wrestling coach and professional mobile DJ I understand that todays youth have their own music but Lunatic fringe is still among the best songs to play while working out.

Motivational and good variety,
By A Customer
This review is from: Vision Quest (Audio CD)
If you haven't seen the movie, this soundtrack won't sound too great to you. It will be just another CD from the 80s that we can store in the closer or attic. But for those that have seen the movie (especially wrestlers) this soundtrack is an excellent motivator. Great for running hills to cut that last few pounds before a match/tournament or to pump you up before a dual. This CD also has songs which are just plain good to listen to. It has everything a CD should have. Highly recommended.
