I own a Xerox 252 scanner and it has been a very useful tool in my home home. We've scanned roughly 25-30k pages on it. The scanner comes with one replacement ADF pad assembly. This item gets worn and rounded out from the friction of the paper passing between it and the roller. That's when trouble starts with the scanner in the form of paper jams and pulling multiple pages. In other words, if you keep this scanner long enough, you WILL be forced to buy this kit. You paid a LOT of money for your scanner originally but now you are going to have to spend nearly a hundred bucks buying what should essentially be a ten dollar replacement item. The kit comes with four pads which is nice and also some mediocre instructions for cleaning the scanner with the included cleaners. This is fine but I could easily find some alcohol around the house and buy some lint free clothes for $5. Xerox/Visioneer has cleverly packaged this stuff altogether and not allowed it to be sold separately. If you are not a heavy user, you are very likely to lose the maintenance kit before you use it all up. For instance, I've had this scanner 5 years now only used two pads. Will I be using the scanner another 10 years? Doubtful.
