Really Easy!,

I saw this on TV and thought it was so funny. And really different. After struggling to train my first little boy (he didn't get trained until almost 3.5), I decided to try this for his little brother. He is 2 and 2 months. He LOVES IT! I couldn't believe how excited he was when he saw it. I thought I would have to show him how to use it, but I just helped him pull down his pants and he took it from there. He really went - right away! It has been a couple weeks and I totally love this thing. So does my son. He pees in it all of the time. And, he makes less mess in the bathroom using this than his older brother does when HE goes. Really really great idea.

I purchased this urinal for my 3-year old who had begun potty training when he was about 2 and a half, but was still too short to stand at the toilet. The main reason I had bought this was because he could use the toilet, but we were still struggling to get him to take the initiative and I had read many reviewers saying that this urinal immediately captured the interest of their younger toddlers.
Now, a couple of months later, my son has only used the urinal about 3 times, but is mainly in dry underwear all day. He still prefers to sit on the toilet for both pee and poo, since that was how he was originally taught. This is a good product for parents to buy when their son first takes an interest in potty training, so that they can be taught standing up. I also anticipate that as he gets older and more independent in using the bathroom, he should develop more of an interest in standing and this product would then be more useful. The height adjustment is more limited than what I had expected. Even though the urinal is set for his height and he is still not tall enough to stand at the toilet, it can probably only be raised another inch or two. It does not take up much space and is very easy to refill and empty. The few times that he has used it has been very convenient.

I bought this for my reluctant potty-trainer, and he's used it once and tried to go in it several times, but the real blessing has been his 6-year-old brother using it. I have one bathroom, and one very messy boy who never lifts the toilet seat. This has saved me from having to clean my toilet seat constantly or face unwelcome surprises. I do have to check the collection reservoir a lot, though, because my older son does "go" a lot, as big boys will. The flushing mechanism works well and is a necessary part - it saves a lot of time you may spend scrubbing and rinsing a traditional training potty. Plus, the pee collects in a part of the potty the child doesn't have easy access to, unlike a trainer potty that they can pee in, then stand up and step in or put on their head when your back is turned for a second (I speak from experience). Makes it much more sanitary.
The only problems I've encountered are my kids flushing it constantly (mostly when it was new), simultaneously filling the collection reservoir and draining the water and therefore creating two jobs for me to repeat every five minutes, the fact that my three-year-old still can't quite get it that he can't sit on it and do #2, and the fact that it's just a little off-balance, so unless you wall-mount it or lean it up against a wall, you could have an icky mess. Luckily, ours has only fallen over when filled with water.

Has its good points but....,

We bought this for our 14 month old son. It's really cute and he's very interested in it. There are a couple of things that I would change. The flushing mechanism should have a way to lock. I can't swear that this one doesn't because mine is navy blue on the top, not green so maybe I got an old model. Anyway, he LOVES to flush but he just stands there and flushes and flushes until there's no water left. If you could lock it, it would be VERY helpful. Also, the top part doesn't snap down or lock on so he's always pulling it off and draging it around or throwing it into the tub. These are the only 2 problems that I've found but they are a real headache.

not that easy to keep clean. The drawer can get heavy if you don't get a chance to empty after each use. So don't drop it:( AND make sure you clean under the drawer inside the potty because it leaks. and yucka... NOT so much fun to clean dried urine from underneath the drawer and on the insides of the main potty. BUT the product did help potty train my son. You just have to be dilegent with the cleaning of it after each use or you will regret it later.

No more mess!,
This review is from: Peter Potty Toddler Urinal (Baby Product)
I keep my 2 yr old grandson and bought this in hopes it would stop the mess at potty time.It went everywhere except where it was supposed to go, if you know what I mean.It works great, NO MORE MESS!The only thing I disliked was it was so easy to remove the water container and that is just what he liked to do.Since he has gotten used to it he no longer messes with the container. He uses it, flushes it and on his way.My other grandson was here this weekend and he chose to use it for the first time and did great also. It is a great product and I would highly recommend it.I might be buying 2 more.

Perfect potty,

This is the cutest potty for little boys. It is very sturdy, adjusts to different heights and is easy to flush. I recently babysat for a friend of mine whose son is 3 and doesn't like sitting on the potty, I didn't have to ask him once if he needed to use the potty, he just went on his own and it was a much better height for him than the regular potty. My own son just turned 2 so he has only just been introduced to training but he loves to press the button to flush it.

Amazing motivation for my 3 year old son!,

My son is 3 and potty training. We already had the "baby bjorn potty chair" (actually 2), and they're great. But once he started to stand up to urinate, he'd seem to go right on the seam where the bowl meets the back and the second you'd lift the bowl up, urine would be all over the floor. Also, it looked unsafe to lean over. There were too many accidents on the floor to count, all over toys, and candy didn't seem to be reward enough. I got sick of the giant messes!
Enter the Peter Potty, which I was a little reluctant to buy. In 3 days he hasn't had one accident on the floor because he enjoys the 'reward' of flushing so much! Now he refuses to urinate in the BabyBjorn Potty upstairs. Looks like I'll need ANOTHER Peter Potty for upstairs (sigh). Barely a drip on the floor. It was difficult to assemble (base and stem didn't want to go together) so I used a mallet! I had to make my own holes with my elec. screwdriver for the screws too. Assembly could have been better so minus one star. 30 mins. later, it was assembled for a very happy boy. The whole thing could be sturdier. The collection tray could be a little more secure and bigger and the water container could snap on to be more secure, but all in all, a great motivation for your son...did I mention less cleaning for you?! My husband made a good point that this will ease the transition to a real urinal in the men's bathroom and it won't seem so scary. Update 12/4/09: I had to remove the urinal. My son kept disassembling it. It's too easy for the child to pull out the urine bucket, there's nothing keeping the child from taking the green water dispenser off and spilling water. I had to refill the reservoir 5 times a day from him having too much fun with it. Maybe a more mature child who takes directions better would benefit more from this, but right now at age 3.5, I had to take it away for a while. You think they could design it a tad better with a curious child in mind? I will update later when he's more mature. YMMV.

Friends thought I was crazy,

I got this for my two year old. My parents and friends thought I was crazy. I'm having a VERY hard time potty training my son. I've tried everything: candy, stickers, begging. Nothing worked! The first day this arrived he couldn't wait for us to put it together. He used it within the first 20 minutes after it was up. He LOVED it!!! Flushing it has become as much fun as using it. LOL He still will not use a potty chair or the big potty but this he will use so it's been great! I recommend it for all having trouble with training little boys.

great training for our boys,

this was one of the best devices we ever got to help with toilet training. The boys really took to it right away and now prefer it over the sit down. The flushing mechanism is not well made and broke pretty quickly. But we still use it a lot.
