Very good/very scary/very well written,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Visionary (Hardcover)
When I received a copy of THE VISIONARY I thought, oh no, not another thriller. But then when I couldn't put the book down, and could only read it during daylight hours because I was too scared to read it at night, I figured Don Passman was a pretty good writer. Congratulations to the author. And encouragement to all to pick up a copy.

The best book I've read in years !,
This review is from: The Visionary (Mass Market Paperback)
This book was an afterthought in line at the store. Bought out of desperation for something even mildly interestering to read. WHAT A TREAT! I could'nt stop reading it. I can't wait for the next Don Passman book. Just a thought Don if you're out there reading this, How about writing a series of books with the characters of Talon and Rennick? I just finished the book this morning and I miss them already! This is the kind of book you tell every reader you know about. It's fantastic. Don Passman is now on my must read list right next to Cornwell, Deaver and Sanford.

fascinating!,

Don Passman's "The Visionary" is a high suspense thriller somewhat similar to Thomas Harris' "The Silence of The Lambs" and "Hannibal." The story revolves around a psychiatrist/teacher, Dr. Michael Rennick, and his patient, Lisa Cleary. Rennick is assisting the LAPD in a serial killer investigation while helping Lisa deal with visions that he feels are related to these string of murders. Helping her figure out these visions, Rennick thinks, will help find the killer. "The Visonary" is fast. This pace kept me interested in a book that was often times very complex and intense. I couldn't wait to find out what happened next to the characters. After reading only a couple of chapters, you can clearly tell that Passman was very thorough in his research of psychology and serial killers. In addition to the accuracy in research, the characters are very easy to identify with and are very human, making the book that much more thrilling. All of these elements made this book a fascinating read. I can't wait for the next Passman book!

Intellectually satisfying, original and complex plot,

Buy "The Visonary" if you like intelligent, well-written and complex stories interwoven with chilling violence, like the novels of T. Jefferson Parker and Jonathan Kellerman. I found the book's resolution highly original and also believable. The book is fast-paced, crisply written and filled with interestingly human heros, good lawyer stuff, and a true-to-life L.A. setting.

A PULSE-POUNDING THRILLER,
By
This review is from: The Visionary (Mass Market Paperback)
Lisa Cleary is the beautiful woman on the rise at the prestigious accounting firm where she works...she is also the woman who is suffering from horrible dreams and visions of murder.Danny Talon is the LAPD detective on the trail of an elusive serial killer responsible for the mutilation deaths of three young woman. Dr. Michael Rennick is the UCLA author/ psychiatrist/lawyer whose expertise with the human psyche can help both, the detctive and the young businesswoman. As Lisa's visions of murder, as well as horrible images from her past become increasingly vivid, she seeks the help of Dr. Rennick. Danny has no clues to help lead to the capture of the killer, with nowhere to turn, he also, seeks the help of Dr. Rennick. At first Rennick does want to get involved, but after finding out one of the victims was a friend of his, he agrees. Taking Lisa as a patient, his first goal is to try and figure what the visions are, and what do they mean, but as the sessions continue, Rennick finds out Lisa is actually seeing the murders. Rennick, Lisa and Talon begin working together to put a stop to the vicious madman. Talon is hesitant about working with Lisa, but as her visions describe things in great detail, he decides he can you use all the help he can get. "The Visionary" is an excellent, well written, fast-paced thriller, complete with a shocking ending. Anyone looking for great entertainment (and that is what this book is...ENTERTAINMENT) should pick up this novel. If "The Visionary" is any indication of what to expect from Don Passman, I will add his name to my MUST READ author list. Nick Gonnella

A "stay up at night" page turner,

A great, fast-paced read from a new author. A psychic works with a detective and a forensic psychiatrist in tracking a serial killer. The plot keeps you guessing with clever twists and the characters are well drawn. Very interesting psychiatric sessions dealing with what happens when the psychic's visions get out of control. Check this one out.

Wow! I was very suprised when I couldn't put down this book. I bought it as one of those vacation books you buy while reading on the beach. Well, I found myself staying on the beach till after the sun went down! Many authors try to tackle the subject of serial killers and psychiatry however, few are sucessful. Thanks Don for a wondeful read.
