4.0 out of 5 stars Visioneer 9450 requires driver for Vista
Had to download driver to operate on my Vista machine. Also the SCANSOFT PaperPort CD that came with Visioneer 9450 was not compatible with Vista, so had to go to SCANSOFT site to download upgrade. Also had to call Visioneer technical support regarding the connections, since the instructions weren't 100% clear. After finally loading the right Vista driver and software,...

2.0 out of 5 stars Good when it works
I've owned two predecessors to this scanner - but they are about the same. The ADF on the first gave up during the warranty period and Visioneer replaced it. The second one (the whole scaner)gave up about a year outside the warranty period, so it's a goner. It's a fairly servicable scanner for the price (when it works), although it really only allows you to feed about...

4.0 out of 5 stars Satisfied....for now, April 21, 2009

I bought this scanner after reading a lot of poorly written negative reviews and a few very well written positive ones. I also used one of Visioneers similar scanners at work and was impressed by that one. So far I am very satisfied. There were some problems with the software and I had to download new drivers from Visioneer, but after that it was smooth sailing. I think the software problems has to do more with Microsoft Vista and not Visioneer. The scanner works very quickly and as advertised. The scan soft software is easy to use. I would recommend this product to anyone.

The second one (the whole scaner)gave up about a year outside the warranty period, so it's a goner. It's a fairly servicable scanner for the price (when it works), although it really only allows you to feed about 5 to 7 documents at a time. I like the Paperport software. Although there is better OCR software available, the Paperport is versatile, easy to use, and generally gets the job done.

5.0 out of 5 stars 9450 ADF Scanner, December 14, 2007

I've had my Visioneer 9450 for four years and it's worked flawlessly. The ADF feature is a real time saver and mine came with ADOBE Acrobat, so the scanned files are automatically saved as PDF documents if I don't want to waste disk space with JPG or GIF type images. I've used OCR software with pretty good results and I'd recommend it for anyone in a home office environment.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not compatible with Win7, January 17, 2011
This review is from: Visioneer One Touch 9450 USB 600 DPI Flatbed ADF Color Scanner (94501D-USB) (Office Product)
This model is so out of date, I am surprised that Amazon is still selling it. The manufacturer only had a "beta" driver for Windows Vista and no driver (or any plan to make one as far as I can tell) for Windows 7. If you upgrade your computer, you are SOL so look elsewhere for a scanner!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Product, September 30, 2010

This review is from: Visioneer One Touch 9450 USB 600 DPI Flatbed ADF Color Scanner (94501D-USB) (Office Product)
This is a very good scanner. It is super fast, versatile because it bulk-scans with a feeder or you can use the flat bed. I used the OCR and it was very easy and saved directly onto a Word document.

The only issue I had is that it ships with a lock on the bottom which prevents it from functioning. I did not see that anywhere in the instructions. I called the Visioneer technical support, they uninstalled the software and re-installed and after forever told me there was a hardware failure. I returned it to Amazon where I quickly got a new one. Only to find the same problem. Finally we had to get IT support come in and he turned it over and unlocked it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent product, better than HP's, July 26, 2010

This review is from: Visioneer One Touch 9450 USB 600 DPI Flatbed ADF Color Scanner (94501D-USB) (Office Product)
What a relief to finally get a product that works so well. It is simple to install and setup, and the ADF works flawlessly and fast. I purchased my Visioneer 9450 to replace my HP 5590-ADF which couldn't feed more than 5 pages without a misfeed or a jam after which I had to disconnect the power and reboot the entire system every time.
The Visioneer is ideal for a small office setup requiring multi page scanning. I wish I'd purchased it a year ago.
Buy this product without any qualm, you'll be glad you did.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works well (mostly), July 2, 2011

Setup was very easy, and the software worked well for both an XP machine and a Mac OSX 10.5. Scanning to PDF (my main concern) is seamless and quick (much faster than my "all in one" printer/scanner and stitching things together). It gets the "mostly" in the title because it's fussy about how the paper is loaded (first time the second sheet was slightly off square and jammed it) and even if I get the stack of papers perfect, about every 6th document it'll stop for no reason and I have to redo the scan). It handles slightly crinkled paper (my wife used staples) well, though. Overall, at the price it was a very good deal.

This scanner has been great. I haven't had any problems so far. The software that comes with the program makes it easy to type on a PDF, erase sections of it and it also has a button to remove stray dots. The programs I have had before didn't come with these options so it has been pretty handy not to have to use a different software to perform such actions.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Product!!!, July 17, 2010

This review is from: Visioneer One Touch 9450 USB 600 DPI Flatbed ADF Color Scanner (94501D-USB) (Office Product)
I purchased this scanner after reading reviews and ensuring I could run it with Vista OS. The ADF works great, the OCR is as good as I've seen and the ease of use (user friendly) menus is great. I have an HP scanner that would not work with Vista or Windows 7 and they never worried about updating the drivers. This one has updated drivers, pdf, fax, ocr, email and everything you need. To top it all off, the price is right! (No pun intended) HP usually has good hardware but for them to make people buy their products that are in perfectly good condition, is bad business. Visioneer is my new love.
