Editorial Reviews

2011 two CD release from the acclaimed Miami-based Trance DJ. Featuring 14 original productions - the majority of the tunes spotlighting vocalists including Fisher, May Britt, Terry Bennett, Emma Lock and Jerique Allan - the music on Visions Behind Expressions is every bit at home on a shivering dancefloor as it is emanating from a thudding car stereo. From the radio-ready Pop enthusiasm of "Nothing You've Ever Seen" and the bubbly synths of "Break Me Down," to the emotion-tugging expanse of "Falling Deep" and the soaring stabs of "True Love," this album straddles the line between what's considered 'House' and 'Trance' in the EDM (electronic dance music) genre. Although the tunes on this album have definite crossover appeal, true club-goers will be also be satisfied with the more underground tracks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic Acosta, Best album yet May 28, 2011
Format:Audio CD
Well it's been a long time since Acosta has released an album and I'm glad I got to listen to this one. Fisher has some of the most amazing vocals I have heard in a long time. Acosta and Fisher make for some great tracks. He is purely euphoric with the beats and vocals in this album. I feel like this album could go over with almost any crowd. I really liked his track Something about you (feat. Terry Bennett). Acosta seems to be on a whole nother level with this cd. There certainly aren't any djs out there able to venture into main stream trance yet still keep their dark edge to please their long time fans the way Acosta can do it. This is what Tiesto is trying to do but Acosta does it without the cheese and really has some great tracks here. Take a listen you'll certainly love this one. As far as non-vocal tracks Things are not the way they used to be will bring to back to old Acosta days (feat. Gerry Cueto). Have fun with this one.

I have been a George Acosta fan for over a decade and have loved his ability to put together a magical upbeat mix album which I can listen to over and over like Next Level and AM PM but this album is his first Artist Album. Which to me should not sound the same as a mix compilation and this does not at all. I think for his first artist album this is a great mix of vocal and instrumental tracks that show a different side of George Acosta that you don't see very much of live or in the studio. Its different and some die hard fans of his speed trance mix Cds may not give it a chance but If you appreciate good music and keep an open mind this album might grow on you if it doesn't get you from the first listen.

2.0 out of 5 stars Better Than Expected May 28, 2011
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
After loving all of Acosta's material through 2008, his style changed, and I have found most all of his material a disappointment. He's had a few decent releases, but nothing on the level of all his mix albums and releases before then. This album was a good surprise. Some good tracks on it, and an amazingly good electro track with "Nothing You've Ever Seen." It might be the highlight of the album for me. I wasn't going to purchase this, but felt I owed it to Acosta because all of his mixes and releases until '08-'09 were just pure genius. I miss him, and I hope he takes his Trance back in a much better direction.

If this had been another DJ/artist, I'd probably give it a higher rating. I expect better of Acosta. so in comparing this to all the other albums I have of his, two stars is more than generous. I still listen to his previous work, and man he was so amazing!
