I really can't recommend this book enough for anyone interested in the Blessed Virgin, in Marian Apparitions, or in Medjugorje. If you are interested in all three, I'd consider this book a must-have. 2.0 out of 5 stars Not for me
I came to this book wanting to believe, and leaning towards belief, but with plenty of skepticism. This book reinforced my skepticism. It is not intended as a defense of the visions, per se, but friendly non-skeptical interviews with the visionairies, and report of Marian messages to the Parish at Medjugorge, and a smattering of anecdotes of seemingly miraculous events...

I really can't recommend this book enough for anyone interested in the Blessed Virgin, in Marian Apparitions, or in Medjugorje. If you are interested in all three, I'd consider this book a must-have. The woman who wrote the book interviewed not only all of the visionaries (the ones who see the Blessed Virgin Mary and have since 1981 !) but also the two child 'locutionaries' as well. Each chapter of interviews speaks of how it began for each person and 'where they are today' as far as which ones still receive a daily apparition and which have a yearly one now, and who has all ten secrets and who is yet to receive all ten (now, most have ten and some have nine). It explains the phenomena of Medjugorje very well. There are also photographs to go along with all the book talks about. I did not know there were child locutionaries (they hear the BVM talking to them, and I believe this because for one thing, the things those two children say are amazingly wise beyond their years) until I read this book.

The interviewer asks spiritual questions of each subject and the answers will have your mouth dropping open. I can't seem to hold onto this book; every once in a while I will buy a new copy, only to give it away again to someone I feel will be amazed by it too -- and they are. The interview subjects discuss heaven, hell, purgatory, God's peace, the visions, etc.etc. It's an amazing book, and will leave you feeling very good after reading it. I found it inspiring. [....] Right now it's my favorite book about Medjugorje.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mary is the mother of every single person on this earth., September 27, 1998
By A Customer
This book will truly change your life. Its message is so simple. The Mother of God is calling us back to her Son. She wants us to totally surrender to God's will for each of our lives. I read a small book on Medjugorje 13 years ago and thought to myself, Wow! that's wonderful, but that was it, I didn't think about it again until I happened to pick up "The Visions of the Children". It contains actual interviews with each of the six children who have been speaking with the Blessed Mother. What they have to say will completely involve you with what is happening in Medjugorje. This book is for every human being on the face of the earth. God does not have favorites, He loves us all equally. Jews, Catholics, Protestants, Moslems, etc. - all will go to heaven if they love Him and keep His commandments. But we can do so much more to help others. Wake up! Do not be satisfied with the life you lead now. There is more, much more. If I had the money I would buy this book for everyone. Do not pass up what The Visions of the Children has to offer. It will change your life as well as the lives of those who encounter you after you have read it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Full of insight., September 25, 1999
By A Customer
This book has great interviews taken from the Medjugorje visionaries. The six seers, who see or saw the Mother of God daily, are interviewed in this awe inspiring book. They tell their story simply and make responding to God's desires more easy to achieve. They are full of knowledge from heaven that we simply would not know. They do. They have seen the future and what lies ahead for those who do not turn to God. They tell us what we must do now. They speak of the importance of prayer, of a Sacramental life, of a family that prays together. This book is a "must read" for anyone interested in Medjugorje and their future. Beware of some of the theology in the introductory and concluding chapters, they are the opinion of the author-not the Medjugorje visonaries. This book is a collection of interviews. Read them and understand the greatness of those who give their lives over to Mary in order to live heaven on earth.

This book is a wealth of understanding. This book it not a history of the church, nor a catechism, but comes instead from the mouths of six children who literally grew up in the presence of the Mother of God. From this book comes a deep understanding of the Christian faith. You will be so surprised after reading this how well things just make sense and you will feel such a peace in your faith!

And for those who are perplexed about the Catholic denomination, Visions of the Children explains it from the bottom up, so that you can have no previous knowledge of the Catholic denomination or the Christian religion and still come away understanding a great deal. Also, for non-Catholics, there is no pressure of conversion. :-)

Just take a chance on this book! You won't regret it!!!!

God bless!

5.0 out of 5 stars Visions of The Children, May 30, 2002

I have read Visions Of The Children many times over and over. After having been to Medjugorje twice I feel Jan Connell's book is probably the book which will make you feel as if you are already there in Medjugorje. I have read many books on Medjugorje. This one is my favorite because it is the most detailed about the six visionaries and their testimonies and encounters with Our Lady in Medjugorje. This book goes beyond all of the manifestations of Medjugorje like the rosaries turning gold, the sun spinning, etc- and focuses on the true messages of Our Lady and which she has been stating for the last almost 21 years. Do read this book and let it touch you as it has us those of us that have been blessed to visit Medjugorje ourselves and for those that havent this will take you on a journey there in your heart. A beautiful and inpisring book!

5.0 out of 5 stars An Open Mind, May 24, 2008
I first bought this book sitting around SFO waiting for a plane back to LAX. Bought it for my wife who has great faith. My mom had been to the site and she had some very special experiences that changed her life. However, outside of saying the Rosary much more often afterwards, she did not go into immense detail and what she saw and felt. We just knew it was powerful. Please note, at that time, she was already sick with cancer, so perhaps her communicative abilities were limited. We lost her to brain cancer in 1994, so I wanted to learn more about her own Yugoslavian openings.

If you have an open mind, be certain to read this book. My wife and 12 year old step daughter were in big tears within the first few pages. From a Catholic perspective, this is much more evidence, in droves, of the presence of the Mother of God calling out to us for prayer and faith right now. To a non-believer, the author approaches the visionaries like a great reporter - asking tough questions over and over, sometimes the same ones in very different ways. The consistency of their answers, all of them, helps justify the notion that this is a very real phenomenon and one worth studying closely. It almost feels like the interviewer does or did not believe, hence the tough questions from a variety of angles. These are not softball questions on their visions if you read her style closely. They have plenty of chances to slip or be inconsistent.

If you love books and claim to have an open mind, please read this book. The experiences they share of hearing personally from the Mother of Jesus are like nothing you will ever read again. She is so full of love and concern for all of humanity that it's very beautiful and compelling. We have been profoundly blessed by this work and bought many copies to share with family and friends, Christian and non alike. You will not be disappointed with this loving book.

This is one of my very favorite books. The interviews with the visionaries are very direct and would be a good read especially for people who might not read a book like this from cover to cover. There is a grace I feel when I read this book, a peace. I have it highlighted, underlined and circled. It is that good!
Titles the reader can look up are: heaven & hell, suffering, family life, peace, etc. I can't recommend this book enough!

5.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful collection of inspirational research and interviews, January 3, 2007
By
Joanne (Buffalo NY) - See all my reviews
The interviews are facinating and simple. The messages are timeless and make so much perfect sense, it just blows your mind to be made aware of all this! Read this...you will not be unchanged, and you will enjoy every minute of the transformation.
This book can be read in awsome little daily bites, or as a sweeping consumption of hope and wonder!
I have learned so much thru the authors' well researched and sensitive approach to educating the reader as to the details of the appirations still continuing in Medjugorje. I picked up a few copies for Christmas gifts, they were received with anticipation and lots of appreciation...they don't have any idea how much yet!

Maybe the most profound, truthful, and necessary book, besides the Bible, I have ever read. The call which is written about in this book is the same call for every single person on this earth and hopefully will be answered with love by everyone.
