More About the Author

Candace Murrow primarily writes complex women's fiction that may include elements of romance, mystery, suspense, or the paranormal. Besides women's fiction, she has written a collection of short stories (for adults), and a short, sweet fantasy/adventure novel intended for the younger reader. All of her books share one thing in common: they are all written from the heart.

Candace lives with her husband in Olympia, Washington. In her "past life" she worked as a computer programmer. Now she enjoys reading, gardening, and walking in nature. More than anything else, she loves writing stories and novels that connect with readers on an emotional, heartfelt level.

I must say, this is one of the most interesting stories I read in a while (and I read a lot). It had intrigue, romance, suspense, you name it. What a wonderfully written story with extremely engaging characters. I couldn't put it down, and when I had to, I couldn't wait until I was reading it again. I look forward to reading more stories by this author.

Libby McGraw was taunted in high school as "Chicken-legs McGraw" and "The Witch of Harbordale High." It's no wonder she'd far rather avoid her 25th reunion, even though in the intervening years she has utilized her psychic gifts in a successful career as consultant and counselor, and turned into a stunner.

But it's surprising that Kipp Reed - former star athlete and Harbordale High heartthrob, who wouldn't give Libby the time of day, and has since become a well-known TV journalist -- would also prefer to skip the event. It's surprising, that is, unless you know of the depression that has clouded his life since the disappearance of his beloved four-year-old daughter.

Dragged to the reunion by friends, the two lock eyes briefly -- before both make hasty exits. But they are drawn together soon after when Kipp's editor assigns him an article on psychics and, lacking any source of information on the subject, he makes an appointment with Libby for professional purposes only.

Before long, Kipp has persuaded Libby to help find his missing daughter; he finds himself drawn to her as well, but memories of her abusive first husband and self-consciousness over a body scarred by breast cancer surgery have made Libby hesitant to enter a new relationship.

This is no ordinary romance novel, but a mystery and psychic thriller as well, with an added subplot of budding interest on the part of Kipp's and Libby's best friends. In fact, it is all that the "product description" says it is, and more. It is a book that can be read on several levels. This is something I appreciated, as - like Kipp -- I am extremely skeptical that psychic phenomena actually exist, and am not normally drawn to books on the subject.

Visions of Hope accomplishes a very unique thing, the bridging of the more worldly, down-to-earth cares and relationship dynamics we have with one another with the more subtle dynamics of metaphysical realities. Candace Murrow clearly has a strong grasp of both sides of this equation and with that, is able to weave into a gripping storyline the complexities involved when one tries to cross this bridge in either direction. For both Kipp and Libby, crossing that bridge to one another requires the courage to challenge their beliefs and fears, something every reader can appreciate and relate to. Visions is at different times a mystery, a comfort, and a challenge to follow where one's inner voice might lead, regardless of the outcome. I enjoyed reading every moment of it and found I could not put the book down. The characters are alive with humanness, strength, frailty and easily find their ways into your mind and heart. Ms. Murrow is a masterful storyteller with both heart and wisdom. A highly recommended read!

Candace Murrow's Vision's of Hope is not simply a spicy combination of hard-to-put-down romance and mystery. It is a complex interweaving of relationships,
Spiritual principals and deep truths that emerge as the characters heal and evolve. This is not presented in a dry or schmaltzy way. There is an edge to the story that kept me on my toes. I was compelled to read the book twice, a rare occurrence. Once to keep racing through to the very last page of the story to find out what happens next. A second time more slowly, to pick up on the subtleties of how each character represents different aspects of our current culture. Candace brilliantly explores the polarities between intuition and logic, love and fear, goodness and greed. Resolutions occur in surprising ways. Reading a book that explores these concepts is often a bit like eating broccoli. Escaping into Visions of Hope is like enjoying dark chocolate - decadently delicious and good for you too!

I stumbled upon this book and was so glad I did. It held my interest from page 1 to the very end. In all honesty, I didn't skim through any of the book, reading each line as there was no "filler." Although a suspenseful romance, there were not any detailed erotica, which I appreciate. The intimate parts, which were very few, was tastefully done and minimal in description. They also had to do with the characters' background, rather than just some sex scenes thrown in to fill pages. The storyline was wonderful and the writing flowed so well; other books drag unnecessarily to lengthen the book, but this author did not do this, and for that reason it was so easy to get engrossed in the whole thing. Will definitely be buying other books by this author.

After having read the author's book of short stories and liking it very much, I was looking forward to reading her first published novel. It did not disappoint. The writing is good, very readable, but also very good at evoking images in the reader's mind, of places, of the characters, of the events going on. For me, the book was a page turner -- I found myself staying up later than usual just to read "one more chapter". I personally had the most attachment to the character of Libby and without wanting to give too much away, towards the end she took a big risk and the scene was very moving, but also seemed just right, like the author wasn't forcing anything to happen and it did happen exactly as I felt it should have. Recommended!
