More About the Author

I e-published Visions of My Father - Ode to Killer Joe. The electronic version is available on Smashwords.com and amazon.com. A paperback version is available on Amazon. An audio version available on iTunes, audible.com, podiobooks and amazon. You can access these links from my web page www.maryjoromano.com. The next body of work I am creating for Visions of My Father will be a one-woman show that will be video-taped. The objective of the material I write about is to make the audience FEEL through humor. Emotions are scary to me and I do not like feeling them. It is my life lesson to overcome this fear while providing good entertainment. I recently wrote [along with author Michael Peters]a short film titled 'Scratchers.' Also, I have concepts for a play and a TV show. So much more to come...to be continued. Thank you, MaryJo

I found myself thinking of my own deceased father while reading Mary Jo's account of her experience during the last hours of her father's life. Not that the experiences were similar, only that we've each lost a beloved parent. I enjoyed Mary Jo's gift of describing her visions. Because Mary Jo's descriptions "visions" seemed so candid and sincere, I felt like she was pouring her heart out to me. This story came from the heart of the author there's no doubt about that, and that's what I think makes it so endearing. This story has the power to stay in ones mind long after reading it, that to me is a sign of a good subject and a good story teller.

I've had the pleasure of working with MaryJo the writer -- a writer whose dedication and passion is rare to find where I live in Los Angeles. Now, with "Visions of My Father" I've had the chance to get to know MaryJo the woman a bit better, and it's clear that every bit of wisdom, care and thoughtfulness she remembers in her father is reflected in MaryJo's personality and in her work.

The subject of this story is gripping -- a man so memorable, so ahead of his time, so positive, and with such an incredible way of looking at things from a different yet profound angle -- and it's hard to put this book down. It fills the reader with a sense of optimism and helps one remember their own loved ones now dearly departed in a similarly positive light, all the while harnessing that feeling of nostalgia that makes our hearts sing and ache at the same time. I highly recommend this book!

Visions of My Father is a very personal and touching account of the relationship between a father and his daughter, and a man and his family. Told from the perspective of the middle daughter, MaryJo Romano recounts vision after vision of humorous, heartfelt and touching stories throughout her life which involved her father. He, in and of himself, is quite a character, and if you didn't know him before reading (or listening to the audio version) of this book, you certainly will when you are through.

MaryJo tells the stories with much detail and emotion that you will feel like you know the family!
