Book Description

June 11, 1997
Visions of the Prophet brings more of Gibran’s writings to an audience curious about who Gibran was and what else he wrote. A companion volume to The Eye of the Prophet, Visions is Gibran’s most intellectually challenging book yet. Poems, short essays, and the dramatic play "The Many-columned City of Iram" trace the development of a young man through middle age to the end of his life, when he writes movingly about facing death. Mystic, patriot, and poet, Gibran urges us to uproot complacency and corruption, and champion Love and Truth.

Editorial Reviews

Review

Praise for The Eye of the Prophet:

"In these writings Kahlil Gibran takes us out of the wilderness into the joys and sorrows of everyday urban life. More personal and poltical than The Prophet, the book nonetheless sings with Gibran's lyricism and abiding wisdom."
—Wes 'Scoop' Nisker, author of Crazy Wisdom, co-editor of the Buddhism journal 'The Inquiring Mind'

"This book shows once again why the writings of Kahlil Gibran have been such a rich source of spiritual inspiration in our modern world."
—Jacob Needleman, author of The Heart of Philosophy

4.0 out of 5 stars Gibran is Always Good, February 6, 2010

This review is from: Visions of the Prophet (Hardcover)
I enjoy pretty much everything Gibran has written. This collection seems to be longer pieces, somewhat more subtle than some of his other works. I especially liked "My Soul has taken me to Task." I would think that Gibran fans would like this, but if you are new to his work read "The Prophet" or one of his other works first.
