This review is from: Visions of a Rainforest: Year in Australia's Tropical Rainforest (Paperback)
This book is a celebration of the Australian rainforest which lets you feel, hear and smell it. One of the best books about this environment ever written, I think, with great descriptions of the author's walks into the forest, the ecology of its inhabitants, and peppered with the superb illustrations by William T. Cooper. I bough a second-hand signed copy for my daughter'18th birthday and she loved it. Pity there hasn't been a more recent edition to benefit more people with its reading. But if you can, do buy a second-hand copy for you, it'ss well worth it!

This would be the ideal book to read before visiting Australia, so one can fully appreciate just how different the plants and animals of the Australian forest are. The illustrations by William T. Cooper, on nearly every page, are wonderful, better than Audubon. This would be a great gift for anyone interested in taking scientific illustration "to the next level."
