5.0 out of 5 stars Great collection of songs!
I really enjoyed this CD, it mixes the traditional Native American sounds with a more modern beat. Anything by "Brule" is worth listening to. May I suggest "Canyon Drums" by Peter "Wyoming" Bender. It's a real toe-tapper!

2.0 out of 5 stars Must like Raw Native American Also
This CD is not one of my favorites because it has a large mix of tracks that are already on other CDs. It also has some very raw and authentic sounds, not your typcial modern Native American. Although there is some of that, too. The nice effect is how each song runs into each other as if the whole CD is one continuous track. There are songs on this CD that consist totally...

5.0 out of 5 stars A Wonderful Find, November 4, 2003

Recently my wife and I happened to catch Brule' at the Applefest celebration in Bayfield, WI. After buying a couple of their CDs on-site, we were very pleased to find their music almost a good on CD as live. You need to see them live to really appreciate their sound. I did a search on Amazon.com and took a chance on this CD as it contained several Brule' selections. I was not been disappointed. I have it on as background music at work (when I can be in my office) along with Star People by Brule' and Night Tree by Nicole (flutist for Brule'). I highly recommend any of these three CDs. I find Conti and Douglas Spotted eagle also very well done and very enjoyable. Prior to these Cds, I thought all Native American songs and cds were chantings and shrill bone whistle and flute music.

This is probably one of the BEST compilations on the market. If you are new to Native American chant/song fused with everything from soft jazz to rock, this one gives you an unprecidented good taste of all of it. What makes the CD really stand out is the unbelievably smooth transitions from one selection to the next without obvious breaks. Even the minor overlapping helped to pull the individual selections together very nicely. The CD in its entirity just seems to "fit" together ... Engineering excellence you don't often find in compilations or individuals records.

Great native american music, with a good variety of styles. Robbie Bee and Brule are featured prominently, and their work here shines. For the Christmas spirit, I would suggest "Red Nativity, one holy night", in the native american style. Brule's We the people is also excellent work

5.0 out of 5 stars Great get acquainted sampler!, January 10, 2007
This review is from: Visions & Rhythms (Audio CD)
My wife and I are "into" Native American music, guitar music, a lot of other "esoterica" as well as main-line classic rock'n'roll. This album got a LOT of play especially when we were testing loudspeakers and hi-fi systems. We still fall back on this album for both casual and concentrated listening. But above all, the album will introduce you to many wonderful Native American musical artists and paths. On it's own merit, many of the "best" pieces from each artist is presented here, and the album stands well on its own. For a true challenge to your tube-amp/speaker set up try the "Lakota Piano" album by Brule- stunning.

2.0 out of 5 stars Must like Raw Native American Also, March 16, 2006

Although there is some of that, too. The nice effect is how each song runs into each other as if the whole CD is one continuous track. There are songs on this CD that consist totally of nature sounds. More for therapy or relaxation if that is what you are looking for. And then, there is Brulé which is awesome but you're better off just buying a Brulé album and enjoyig all of their singles.
