5.0 out of 5 stars Banshee still Screaming, July 16, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Visions (Audio CD)
Steven Severin never fails to dissappoint. After more than two years of silence after the demise of the Banshees, Severin is back with this astounding instrumental piece. Based on his 1989 original soundtrack to Nigel Wingrove's banned film "Visions of Ecstasy", "Visions" expands on the original themes, creating an intensely atmospheric album. The sounds range from shuddering percussion on "Come Deliver us" to piercing synth-strings on "The Radiance" to spacious-underwater sounds on "The Fourth Water" and "Baphomet". It is easy to let this record repeat itself all night and never tire of the dynamic and tremendously entertaining melodies. The cover art by Catheryn Ward is breathtaking. Imagery of cloudy evening skies and a dark cityscape superimposed with a ghostly human likeness. Altogether a very satisfying record, and worthy of any enlightened listener's player.
