I was not expecting this much from this book. Quite different and quite artistic, and at some point, quite dark. Some of the nicest uses of photoshop I have ever seen. As with most photography books, it is not particularly easy to describe. Some of the shots are similar to the cover, in the sense that you have a photographic array of an attractive woman with some parts of her body "changed" (You have to love photoshop) by mechanical parts. Others make a point with potentially less retouching. My particular favorite is "Futility Stands Against the Inevitable."

Now, there are two things that I should say about this book. One, some of the shots are VERY dark, and a few, quite bloody, just in case you happen to be sensitive in that respect. Second, if somebody knows what is the photographer's fixation with the number 1019, please, let me know! I'm still puzzled about it.

Very fast shipping turnaround!

I've seen Jeffery Scott's work online for a while now at Factory1019 and I always knew it was incredible, but I had no idea that it would look so amazing in print.

This artist is so good at what he does, that when you see the images you'll think what you're looking at is real. Its a nice mix, too. Not only is there some crazy biomechanics that could rival the stuff of H.R.Giger, but also some gorgeous ladies that are hard to look away from.

Excellent composition.

Highly recommended purchase.

great use of a computer, giving real pictures of people a H.G. giger sort of apperance. these creation express feelings about the indutrial age and how it has turned people into sort of machine within a machine. truth lies within the illusions presented in this book. some black and white, some color images. mixing the old and the new for a different look at the reality of our place in a fake mechanical world in which we live.

The vision of this artist is very particular and know how to represent it, is quite interesting and some pictures can be chilling. Images made with a concept well defined and unique aesthetic. 100% recommended for lovers of photography retouched

5.0 out of 5 stars All about the artwork, January 27, 2012

This review is from: Visions from Within the Mechanism: The Industrial Surrealism of Jeffrey Scott (Paperback)
Beautifully printed book of amazing artwork by Jeffrey Scott
He excels in the style of Industrial surrealism
The images are accompanied by titles and names of models, but no descriptions
Good for a coffee table if you don't have delicate guests or children
Some words which describe his artwork would be nudity, cerebral, compelling, disturbing, conjoined bodies, amputees, cyborg, machine and (wo)man, vintage, steampunk, pin-up, dominatrix, humanity, suffering, social commentary, beauty of the strange, controversial, and tremendously creative.
I love this artist and book!
