Even though Great-grandma speaks very little English and Baruéska does not speak Czech, they enjoy a very special afternoon together while baking and looking at old photographs.

A Sweet Little Book,
By Tom "Culture Teacher" (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) - See all my reviews
This review is from: A Visit With Great-Grandma (Library Binding)
I have looked for a good storytime book to share with our preschool audience that could help them relate to Czech culture, and this was the best one I've found. There are mentions of kolaches, a sweet moment looking through the photo album together, and Great-Grandma's broken English which results in a funny conversation with a telemarketer. Not an action-packed adventure, but just a sweet glimpse into a visit with a young girl's Czech great-grandmother. Delightful!
