October 19, 2006
This classic performance of Garrison Keillor's American Radio Company was broadcast live from the Mark Twain Memorial in Hartford Connecticut. The Hartford house is where Twain wrote many of his works.

From AudioFile

Listeners should thank HighBridge for offering this 1990 recording of Garrison Keillor's visit to Mark Twain's house. It is both educational and fun, much like reading Twain's own work. Keillor is accompanied by humorist Roy Blount, Jr., and singer Pamela Warrick-Smith. Warrick-Smith sings some of Twain's favorite songs in a majestic fashion. Keillor interweaves sketches of Twain's life with readings of his favorite Twain quotations, swapping favorite Twain memories with Blount and doing more surprising things like playing the Twain family music box and playing against Blount on Twain's pool table. Both of these last two activities are marked by the odd sounds and precious moments that define live broadcasts and make this tribute visit to Twain's house a lovely listening experience. 5.0 out of 5 stars Mark Twain and Keillor, January 4, 2007

This is a neat live Keillor show that has you feeling as though you are in the Mark Twain house in Harford Connecticut. Very personal views of Twain with wonderful comparisons and observations by and of Keillor. Different than the usual Garrison Keillor Prairie Home Companion Show, a genuine trip into history with Keillor's usual irreverant flare for truth and comedy.

My husband loves all things Garrison!! I bought him this CD to enjoy while riding the stationary bike. He has many CD's by him and while he loves them all, never have I heard him laugh as he did while listening to this one. Laughter is good medicene!! Definitely for anyone who enjoys Garrison and likes Mark Twain, as it is recorded from his house.
