The Visit a new compelling drama by director Jordan-Pearlman starring Billie Dee Williams and Hill Harper. The soundtrack is a stunning collection of Jazz and Gospel. For jazz enthusiasts and all around music lovers this assortment of songs is as compelling and as emotionally charged as the film. With songs by Nnenna Freelon, Joe Sample, Lalah Hathaway, Wallace Roney, Ramsey Louis and Joe Williams, the album is a true sonic compliment to the on screen performances.

"angry & beautiful at the same time ~ melancholy jazz", April 24, 2001
This review is from: Visit (Audio CD)
Music is another character in a movie ~ stressing the emotions while setting the mood of the film itself. The soundtrack/score adds the driving force behind the story-line, highlighting each peak and valley with each character on the screen transcending to the audience ~ if that happens, you've hit your target and made your goal.
The Jordan Walker-Pearlman film ~ "The Visit", includes stirring musical performances by ~ Joe Sample, Lalah Hathaway, Joe Williams, Count Basie Band, Joe Tex, Nnenna Feelon, Karrin Allyson, Ramsey Lewis, Wallace Roney, Stanley A. Smith, Stefan Dickerson, Michael Bearden, Jon Marsh, Helena Marsh, Gene Harris and Niki Harris.
Of course there are highlights ~ "MOTHERLESS CHIL" traditional spiritual written and arranged by Carol Maillard, performed by Sweet Honey in the Rock is "pure gospel" harmony, each voice is as one, telling you like it is ~ "DELIVER ME" this rendition by Karrin Allyson, is an inspiring anthem with powerful lyrics ~ "HIS EYE IS ON THE SPARROW", performed and arranged by Gene Harris, featuring Niki Harris with a voice of an angel, singing straight from the heart and touching yours.
Many thanks to ~ Jordan Walker-Pearlman (producer) ~ Glen Barros, John Burk and Chet Williams III (executive producers) ~ Phil Edwards (assembled by) ~ George Horn (mastered) ~ and Concord Records in releasing this soundtrack, each track standing on its own ~ an outstanding listen.
