Thought provking,
By Judith E. Pavluvcik (Dreaming of the beach in Hawaii, but living in the reality of the desert in Arizona!!) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: The Visitation: An Archangel's Prophecy (Paperback)
This is one book by Mary Summer Rain that is quite unlike her previous books. In this book, she has a visitation by an archangel, who is concerned about the spiritual state of mankind. Coming to Mary, he feels that her words will be able to awaken mankind and to help them "turnaround" their negative behavior.I do believe that Mary's words impact millions of people as she has always lovingly written of the truth and has helped us see the truth. The book is a fast read and expounds upon the Ten Commandments. The archangel goes into the "simplicity" of each one and how mankind has chosen to disregard these rules from God and explains what can be done to turn things around. I just finished reading In God's Truth by Nick Bunick and along with this book by Mary Summer Rain, I feel that man has turned around the words of God and man has used these words in ways that God did not intend to be used. The simple words of faith and love have become distorted and as mentioned in the book, we have become an "I" and and a "me" generation. This is a book of hope, of looking at where one is and where one needs to go. It is a book of introspection and asking of yourself "what is really, really important in my life?" Am I living my life as God wants me to? Would I do the things right now if God were standing right next to me? Some pretty heavy issues in this book, bring up some major questions. You *will* question yourself and some of the answers you come up with will hopefully have you changing around your life. I recommend this book enthusiastically.

A Bit Disappointed...,

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Visitation: An Archangel's Prophecy (Paperback)
After reading "Spirit Song" last week, I was quite excited to find out about this book written by the same author - in fact, I ordered it as soon as I became aware of its existence, and since it's no longer in print, I even chose to purchase a used copy (something I don't like to do too often).
I received the book today, and anxiously began reading it. However, within the first chapter, I was already beginning to feel a tinge of disappointment. "The Visitation" is about Mary Summer Rain's visit from an archangel "of the Most High", and the info./warning that was received. It mainly focuses on the 10 commandments, and how man has distorted their meaning - not taking the time to really THINK about what they were meant to impart. The parts I was disappointed with are: 1. Summer seems to continually look down on the people of today - as if all, or most, couldn't care less about God. I don't agree with this, as I believe that people DO care, but many think it's wrong to think for themselves, to choose their own belief systems. They've been taught from early on that to question is to sin. 2. Summer seemed to insinuate that the books written by the other "messengers" of our time are inaccurate & filled with "glitz". It sounded as if, when someone receives a message that differs from hers, than that person must be writing from their ego, and therefore, it's not truth. My belief is that God has brought many different messages to many different people - not everyone is on the same page, so not everyone would be ready for the same message. My thought is that you'll know the truthfulness of the message by the "fruit that it bears" - so, if it's message of unconditional love &/or other positive "traits", then it's worth considering & pondering over. 3. Mary Summer Rain eludes continuously to major problems in her family life that preceeded this visit, but she never goes into any detail. I kept waiting to get an understanding of these problems, since she would bring them up in a very general manner often - but it was never to be. I would have preferred her to either not mention it at all, or just make a very general statement in the beginning & then just let it go. I can understand that she may not want to lay bare her soul to her readers - but, if that's the case, it would have been better to just not mention it at all. Overall, I think this book does contain some important insights, but they tend to get clouded by the negative judgements that appear all too often. So, although I REALLY hate to do it, I feel that I have to give this book a "3" rating - I just wouldn't feel comfortable giving it any more or less.

A positive change from her previous books,
By mtdew70@aol.com (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Visitation: An Archangel's Prophecy (Paperback)
I found enlightenment and hope in this book. Her previous books brought a sense of urgency, despair and a feeling of little time left to complete lessons to be learned. This book offers more time,a simple but yet all encompassing guideline to live by and the promise of a more spiritual life for those that will heed the words. As S&E would say, I give it two thumbs up!!!!

Words cannot describe how you will feel when you are "loosened" from the ever tightening bonds of man made religion and back into the hands of your Creator. No writer has ever touched me the way Mary Summer Rain has, right down to my soul. I struggle now to find her books that are out of print that I just must get my hands on! I feel any message of hers is humble and heartfelt and worth reading over and over again. Each time you re-read them, you will find something there that you did not recall. Bottom Line-she portrays a world we all want and yearn for and instills us with hope that we will, one day, reach just that.

The Simple Message of Love,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Visitation: An Archangel's Prophecy (Paperback)
Creak thud.Long-time Mary Summer Rain readers will recognize this endearing sound of the author's visionary teacher No-Eye's broken rocking chair as the old woman rocked in silent patience while her sometimes unruly student wrestled with a contentous aspect of her esoteric lesson. Although Mary's study with her wise instructor ended with No-Eye's transformation from the physical world in 1984, readers of Mary's current book, The Visitation, will again be similarly touched by the unpretentous rapport she depicts in her recent dialog with a radiant being-- an archangel. The Visitation is another chapter in Mary Summer Rain's personal narrative of a shy mountain women's life-long sojourn along her spiritual pathway, yet her simple message remains at the forefront-- God's pure Word is unconditional love. Like the reminder each day of God's love through the first gentle bird's song to greet a coming daybreak, Mary's message is that hope remains for the coming age of peace. As I closed the book's cover after reading The Visitation's last word, I know my heart felt the now familiar sound of a friend--creak thud

Disappointing,
By daughter of The King "blessed" (Alaska, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Visitation: An Archangel's Prophecy (Paperback)
I found this book to be extremely misleading and disappointing. Mary Summer Rain needs to understand that just because a spirit says it's angelic doesn't mean it is. I found these messages to be more demonically based than angelic. So sad.

This review is from: The Visitation: An Archangel's Prophecy (Audio Cassette)
I am a 43-yr. old woman who has been experiencing a midlife spirituality crisis. This book was referred to me at an Indian Pow Wow in LaVergne, TN, just yesterday. I picked it up and didn't put it down until I had read the entire thing. I can't tell you what it meant to me. This book spoke to me. It answered a lot of questions and generally put things into prospective for me. I highly recommend it.
