5.0 out of 5 stars Like Wine, this band gets better with age!
Fans of great heavy music should be all over this right now. This band has released their strongest effort to date. Recording and production is absolutely amazing! The song writing is fine tuned, perfect, and heavy. I dont think any other band has the idea of what instruments should sound like better than Unsane. It's a shame this band isn't at the forefront of heavy...

3.0 out of 5 stars One step down
I have always been a number one fan of UNSANE, true band, these kind of bands have dissapeared from the face of the earth. Anyway, I have all the records of course and I love them. However, Visqueen, is a step down for Chris, Dave and Vinny. It sounds almost like the Cutthroats 9 album on Man's Ruin records, and doesn't even come close to such great Unsane albums as...

The song writing is fine tuned, perfect, and heavy. I dont think any other band has the idea of what instruments should sound like better than Unsane. It's a shame this band isn't at the forefront of heavy music right now being that this album is absolutely impeccable. Then again, maybe them being the independent music scene's best kept secret could be a good thing....I mean do we want corporate morons ruining every single aspect of heavy music? This is the best band no one has heard. It's unfortunate for them but for those who discover this band, they'll see why they are such a diverse and special rock outfit.

5.0 out of 5 stars THE BEST UNSANE RECORD. BUY IT. SEE THEM LIVE., June 30, 2007
This review is from: Visqueen (Audio CD)
Blood run was good, but it appears to have been a just a warm up for VISQUEEN. I agree wholeheartedly with the last guy's review. Visqueen is Unsane's best produced/sounding record to date. It's solid all the way through, all the songs are catchy and memorable, and the grove is HEAVY througout the whole album. It's a HEADBANGER from start to finish. Dave Curran really steps up with his vocals this time too, his voice is like ACID. Unsane's got 2 really great singers and it SHOWS on this LP. I've been a good casual fan of Unsane for years, but this record's really brought me back to being more of a "hardcore" fan. Keep up the great work fellas. I cannot wait to hear more!

its hard to believe Chris Spencer has been keeping Unsane going for just about 20 years now. they've put out some great slabs of bloody music over the past 2 decades, but I have to say, I think this one might be my favorite. the style of songs isn't that much different than 2005's Blood Run, but I think on Visqueen, the production is noticeably better. its louder, clearer, and more definted. also, the vocals have improved substantially. all summed up, I think this is overall a better bunch of songs and probably their strongest. HIGHLY recommended would be an understatement.

5.0 out of 5 stars Night driving soundtrack, February 1, 2011
This review is from: Visqueen (MP3 Download)
It is an awesome album - the second one I bought from this band. The sound is different from their older material, with almost a southern drawl to the music. I love the slow motion groove going here. I had the impression that this would be a good basis for a David Lynch soundtrack, especially given the album cover.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Revelation!!!, August 13, 2010

I think I had seen this album cover before and ignored it as it looked like another Screamo-core wanna-be emo band cover... See, people do judge things by their covers... both human nature and natural in the world of music. Boy was I wrong!! This album had me digging through their back catalog... Where the hell was I?? Oh yeah, listening to HELMET. A great band, but these guys wipe the floor with em'!!! Check out their other albums as they are all good, but this one is their most polished... This is, to me, the definition of a POWER TRIO!!! Drumming; Awesome... guitar; Simplistic (very little, if any effects) but rich, bold and multi-layered... Bass; Thunderous, groovin' and Grinding... This is one of those desert island discs for me, music that captivates and puts me in a certain state of mind when I listen to it... and I can listen to this album over and over again... These guys should have been bigger and more influential... One can hope for a reunion album right!? oh and I get it... Visqueen... Duh?!?

Unsanes music is like getting hit in the head with a wet,muddy,2x4!Hot black coffee on a cold, dead hangover. The album has a few gems on it, but its very style of music dictates I be in a very poor mood to connect with it.Its a rough course sound and style. But it is still really great.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Return To Earlier Days Of Sorts, May 11, 2007
This review is from: Visqueen (Audio CD)
I have been a big fan of Unsane for awhile now while I say that this is a return to earlier days it is not the Unsane of before Scattered,Smothered, and Covered. It is actually a return to the bands sound on Scattered. I was not a big fan of Blood Run but this album is intense and unbelievably heavy. If you are a fan of Unsane then get this album because it is as good as Scattered and may ultimately be considered their best album.

4.0 out of 5 stars As good or better than Occupational Hazard, May 6, 2007

From start to finish. I am so glad these guys are still recording and touring. They let their noise shine through, and yet they still have that Unsane swing, fed by Signorelli and Curran. Spencer's git is a snarling jungle cat.

4.0 out of 5 stars if you like unsane, its a safe bet youll like this, April 13, 2007
This review is from: Visqueen (Audio CD)
not my favorite unsane cd out of what i have but its still unsane sounding like unsane and to me that is a good thing. they have a great sound, and while a lot of their songs sound alike they all individually sound fresh due to the aggression and controlled anger this band plays with. preview track 2 on this cd if you want to see what i mean. i would rate this cd slightly higher than blood run and definitely better than the cutthroats 9 cds. however if you are new to unsane, i suggest as a starting point (out of what is still in print) the greatest hits cd/dvd lambhouse, its a great collection.
