Disappointing even at the low price - suddenly loses all pictures in memory,

My daughter was thrilled to have her own digital camera. She didn't mind that she couldn't preview the pictures she was taking at all. The problem is that without warning the camera suddenly loses all pictures in memory and goes back to "001". It's incredibly frustrating.
