BEWARE! This book and the on-line program required to facilitate its use are nothing but an easy way out for any teacher of espanol! You cannot use the book without the internet. You cannot use the internet without the codes (make sure IF you make the error of using this textbook, to WARN students, PRIOR TO TAKING THE CLASS, to be ready for those issues). The online material is inefficient, poorly organized and badly written. After purchasing some Berlitz language tapes, we found some understanding of the material in the VISTAS text. It took numerous supplements and dictionaries as well as a variety of online resources to begin to understand even the first two chapters.

Students should be required to take a pre-requisite course of using the internet and another on the VISTAS online learning system before taking language classes associated with this book and accompanying online course materials.

Had we known what we know now, we would have gone so far as to attend a different university to avoid this text.

Confusing, expensive, easily misunderstood, and in no way a good investment for learning the SPANISH language.

This text book is a thorough method for learning Spanish. It does require a DVD/CD that comes with the 'new' book. If you purchase the 'used' book you can access the material on the DVD/CD via an on-line service. The online access of the DVD/CD material costs approximately $45.00 so work that amount into the cost of the text... if you are purchasing a 'used' book that does not have the DVD/CD included.

I didnt realize right away because like any student my schedule is frantic. When I opened this book I noticed pages missing but I had no idea how many pages were missing until I tried to use more of the book. EVERY workbook chapter is missing. The only pages actually in the book are the extra assignments. im sure its too late to return it now but the seller should have realized this and NEVER sold this book to anyone shame on belltowerbooks!

The workbook arrived in excellent condition and prior to ETA date, however I didn't expect the first chapter to be totally completed (in ink). This could have been made clearer in the description.

This book was required for my beginning spanish but I have taken spanish before in HS. This book starts off with whole phrases and sayings instead of the basics like the alphabet and ways to depict I, You and Them as spanish language does so that you can read and understand it. I don't think that this book in very introductory for beginners who don't know anything.
