Makes learning anatomy fun and relevant!,
By Anatomy teacher (Grand Rapids, Michigan) - See all my reviews
This review is from: A Visual Analogy Guide to Human Anatomy (Paperback)
I teach anatomy & physiology and have used this book in my classes. Students simply love it! It is a very creative soft cover book that makes learning anatomy both fun and relevant. Rather than merely presenting facts, this book helps students to better learn anatomy by comparing anatomical structures to things from everyday life. While it especially appeals to the visual learner, it will help all types of students. It's part coloring book, workbook, and visual learning system all rolled into one. I was certainly impressed with all the study tips and wonderful mnemonics.
Without a doubt, it will definitely help students pass anatomy the FIRST time.

I got this book for my anatomy class and the instructor said there wasn't much difference between this old edition and the new one. I found out that it wasn't true. The new edition has much more information, visual guides and diagrams than this edition. I was fortunate enough to have an instructor that wants you to succeed that she scanned the pages that were not available in the old edition. If you can, pay the extra bucks for the new edition

I purchased this for an Anatomy & Physiology Lab college course. It was not required, but recommended. I thought it was helpful at times, but I didn't get the use out of it I thought I would. Instead, I much preferred the Anatomy study guide coloring books. They were much more helpful to me and I was able to learn the material much faster. If you don't have as much time to study/color, or don't like to study in that style, then this book is a great alternative!

This book is very helpful for learning Anatomy and Physiology. It compares different things with the human body and provides very good mneumonics to learn the material. This is another book that I would definitely keep for reference after taking the class. This book was also recommended by my professor because of how good it is.

This lab book is a useful tool to memorize anatomical structure. It contains useful analogies. It has short, concise descriptions of each structure/bone. I like it!

The book I ordered 3 weeks before Christmas came and it was cleary used. i.e. pages bent and dirty. I contacted seller right away for a refund and have been going back and forth with this person ever since. Now, almost three weeks after christmas I am still waiting for the return label to come in the mail. The seller insistes that it is on the way, that was over 3 weeks ago. I refuse to pay for return shipment because I didn't receive what I expected, that being, a new book worthy of being a christmas gift.

My anatomy/physiology teacher recommended this book to the entire class. I used the ISBN number from my teacher's book to order it. I was upset that when it arrived it was not a bound book. My teacher's is a paperback bound. I received the exact same book only loose leaf with 3-hole punch; therefore, I have rated the "item" with 3 stars because it was not what I expected to receive.
As for the contents of the book, it is really helpful not only to me but to others in my class that have purchased it. It does make our topics easier to understand and remember because of the reference to everyday objects that help anyone to remember what something looks like. I would have purchased the book under any circumstances; however, I would also have search further for a bound copy if I had realized this was not. |
