Good addition to any developer's library, February 11, 2003
This review is from: Visual Basic.Net Scalability Handbook (Paperback)
I have been programming with many languages (including VB 6) for many years now. Over the years I have learned, not without great effort, to come up with some good design patterns that are universal to most languages. I was going to embark in a .Net project so I was looking for a book that would show how to properly implement a scalable application in VB.Net. There are many books that show how to program in VB.Net but not many that indicate how you should architect your application for a large user base.
I found this book to be very good. It reinforced some of the concepts I already knew and showed you how to implement them using VB.
I would recommended this book to any intermediate to advance programmers that are ready to program applications that scale effectively beyond a standard departmental application.

Very good approach to architectural matters, November 12, 2004
This review is from: Visual Basic.Net Scalability Handbook (Paperback)
I think that this book has an excellent approach to architecture and scalability matters in .NET. The 3-tier example gives you a good look about object-oriented architecture. It is possible, from there, to apply remoting or web services to improve the application's performance and scalability. Well done!
