By A Customer
This review is from: Visual Developer Web Commerce Programming with Visual C++: The Visual C++ Developer's Guide to Implementing Internet Commerce Solutions (Paperback)
I purchased this book and was trying to get to the website, gigantor.com. It is lost! Where is it? Does anyone know? Other than that this is a great book!

A good reference for onnline shopping processing,

This review is from: Visual Developer Web Commerce Programming with Visual C++: The Visual C++ Developer's Guide to Implementing Internet Commerce Solutions (Paperback)
I found this book quite helpful in programming an online shopping application. Except that it lacks the details of how to perform secure online credit card processing. Also, the email program on the appendix of the book was good. On the other hand, I agreed with one reviewer, the code included in the CD needs to be re-organized before it can be compiled to work.

How to ecommercing your web page using C++ classes from Don,
By A Customer
This review is from: Visual Developer Web Commerce Programming with Visual C++: The Visual C++ Developer's Guide to Implementing Internet Commerce Solutions (Paperback)
A great book. Based on Don personal experience on setting up a virtual store for selling foosball tables. A must for advanced C++ programmers who want to set up a web page and start ecommercing as soon as possible.

The CGI Programming was very helpful.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Visual Developer Web Commerce Programming with Visual C++: The Visual C++ Developer's Guide to Implementing Internet Commerce Solutions (Paperback)
This book should be labeled CGI/ISAPI programming since the examples show how to do this in ample detail with a Web server. The usage of STL was very helpful, and is obviously written for advanced programmers.

Excellent technical book for CGI and ISAPI programming.,

The examples were clear and helpful, the STL focus showed me some things I had never done before with the stream iterators. This is the only worthwhile book that shows how to do CGI programming in C++! The ISAPI and ODBC samples helped me enable retail merchandise from my web site within a few weeks. Combined with the credit card validation examples in C++ makes this recommended.

CDROM does not have correct code,
By A Customer
This review is from: Visual Developer Web Commerce Programming with Visual C++: The Visual C++ Developer's Guide to Implementing Internet Commerce Solutions (Paperback)
I just bought this book today. The included CDROM has so many problems with missing files, misnamed files and misplaced files that I cannot in good conscience refrain from warning people about the problems with the CDROM. This does not mean that the CDROM is unusable, but anyone who expects to use the code on the CDROM should expect to do a LOT of work to fix files to the point where rebuilding the programs described in the book is possible. Coriolis says this book is warranteed for 90 days against bugs. It remains to be seen whether they will issue a new CDROM with a redone file tree that permits rebuilding the software with Visual Studio 97.

I have just purchesed the book and can't connect to the web site. I also can't email the author at the above address. Does anyone have a clue what happened to Don Gaspar?

Rushed production in 14pt font,
By A Customer
This review is from: Visual Developer Web Commerce Programming with Visual C++: The Visual C++ Developer's Guide to Implementing Internet Commerce Solutions (Paperback)
I'm rather disappointed with this book. It has the overall sense of having been a rushed production and it uses a font size I haven't seen since kindergarten. I received more understanding of how to develop for a Windows based server in just two chapters (18 & 19) of Mike Blaszczak's "Professional MFC with Visual C++ 5" than with all of Don's book. Don has cute examples, but fails to impart any sense of understanding to the user.
