5.0 out of 5 stars 99 Great Marketing Examples on Your Shelf September 25, 2011
Format:Paperback
In the interest of full disclosure, I write book reviews for Small Business Trends and the official review of this book is still in the works. I do want to comment on this book as a small business owner AND as marketing professional.

What makes Visual Marketing a must-own book is in the sub-title "99 Proven Ways for Small Businesses to Market with Images and Design" -- this is what every small business owner and marketing professional wants -- examples and ideas that they can swipe and adapt.

What I love about the examples that are in this book is that they are real-life small business examples. Anita even has an example from her own business included. What's great about this is that every example is something that any small business owner can use and adapt -- no dreaming of big budgets required.

The one drawback from the book is that the pictures are in black and white. But this is really a minor point. This is one of those books you'll want to take out and brainstorm with.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Super Idea Generator for Small Business Owners October 4, 2011
Format:Paperback
Length: 4:06 Mins
I met Anita Campbell in the early 2000s when she was just venturing into the web. Over the years, I've seen Anita provide a wealth of information and opportunities to help small business owners be successful.

This book, that she and her co-author David Langton have put together, follows that same pattern. It is exactly what I would expect -- full of excellent case studies, examples and easy-to-use tips that a small business owner can put into action right now.

A very easy read, it's a book you'll want to keep handy to help you brainstorm ideas for your next marketing campaign. A must for every small business owner.

Visual Marketing: 99 Proven Ways for Small Businesses to Market with Images and Design

This is the kind of book you would want to run to the nearest library to read when you start your campaign planning and ponder on ways to increase your business. Used well as a brainstorming tool it would be a good arsenal for any business owner, marketer or a agency. The example of TEDIndia from Page 155 is a good example of a Global brand using local ' Currency" - I know how popular TED is in India now first hand as when I visited India recently my family told me they wanted to go the TEDx in Hyderabad and the event had sold out.

On page 109 was an idea of digitizing the loyalty program and that was a topic of conversation I had just yesterday with some friends. This illustrates the wide variety and collection of case studies of ideas that appealed and worked. hand Drawn promos, cartoons, wines, spin records, freebies everything I could think of was in the book. If the book comes out again I am sure it will have color photos like Scott suggested above.
