5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite drink
Everyone is complaining about the pulp, but I find that is my favorite part of the drink. In fact, I shake it up real hard to make sure that I get more pulp off the sides of the container. I guess everyone has a different opinion. I love this drink!

Tasty product but has pulp in it so my daughter doesn't care for it. Will go back to Zico.

5.0 out of 5 stars Our Favorite Flavor :-)...Refreshing and Energizing, August 8, 2007
This review is from: Vita Coco Coconut Water with Pineapple, 11.1-Ounce Tetra Paks (Pack of 12) (Grocery)
My husband and I LOVE this stuff. We love how quickly it absorbs into the body. It just feels so right, doesn't sit or have a weird after taste like most sport drinks. Our body loves this stuff just as much as we do...without all that fructose, sucrose, and whatchamacallit preservative additive stuff in so many products today. I love the plain coconut water as it has less calories and gives me the boost I need. Just check out the ingredient list...coconut water...that's it!!! Gee I sound like a commercial :-/. Anyway, the fact that it's low in calories and offers the potassium and electrolites we need just seals the deal for us. Oh the other thing I noticed when comparing products is vitacoco uses ACTUAL fruit puree unlike the other brand that uses fruit essence...what is fruit "essence" anyway???

And if you've never had coconut water, it doesn't taste like cococut meat. It's more earthy and subtle. And if you're squimish on taste and picky, I recommend my husband's favorite flavor, Pineapple. That one is coconut water with pineapple and coconut meat puree...it tastes like a refreshing PinaColda :-). He absolutely LOVES it...I do too, but it has a little more calories (110 cal) and a little fat (2.5g), whereas the plain coconut water has only 60cal and 0 fat, yes, zero :-).

BTW, my husband is an avid runner who logs around 45+ miles a week and is always looking for a good drink to rehydrate and recoop after a long run. Since this stuff isn't cheap, around $1.50 a shot, he saves it for his longest runs and drinks nestle quick chocolate skim milk for his shorter runs...but the coconut water is by far his favorite treat.

Besure to chill it before drinking...not very refreshing warm :-p.

For the reviewer who didn't like it, feel free to send your case to us, we'll drink it :-).

5.0 out of 5 stars Pleasant new kind of taste, July 25, 2007
This review is from: Vita Coco Coconut Water with Pineapple, 11.1-Ounce Tetra Paks (Pack of 12) (Grocery)
After trying this the first time, I wasn't sure I would be a repeat drinker. I had just finished a long run and was parched. It definitely quenched my thirst and did not give me that hyped up feeling a lot of the sports drinks do. Because of all the health benefits (and I had a case to use) I kept drinking it. The taste is now something I look forward to and the reason it is so different is because the ingredients are all natural! Great health drink for anytime. Now I am pregnant and enjoy the added potassium and hydration it gives.

5.0 out of 5 stars Coconut Taste/Pineapple After Taste, September 22, 2007

This is my favorite drink of the summer when I want something other than water and something more than plain coconut water. I like the taste/aftertaste sensation. It does not seem as sweet as pineapple juice, but it does contain cane juice so it is somewhat sweet. It's great chilled after a long hike or a strenuous workout.

It is as close as you can get to the real thing. Plain is my favorite, but the pineapple is the best of the fruit flavors. Vita Coco website has all the available flavors to view.

My wife bought this at Whole Foods for a little bit more and I thought it was such a BS marketing thing. However, I was wrong. It's fantastic. I usually have one after a long run to get some vitamins back in my body, followed by a lot of water and it cuts down on that dry, dehydrated, drowsy feeling you get.
Beyond that, I can't help but wonder how rum would go with it because it has such a tropical taste. It's only a matter of time until it's used in bars and clubs.
Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of competition in pricing. I looked all over the web for competitive pricing and it's relatively similar with amazon winning out due to free shipping.

5.0 out of 5 stars An awesome "pick me up"!, May 26, 2010
This review is from: Vita Coco Coconut Water with Pineapple, 11.1-Ounce Tetra Paks (Pack of 12) (Grocery)
Wow, what an amazing drink! We purchased a sampling of all of their drinks and have been very pleased with how great we feel after drinking the various Vita Coconut drinks. We live in the South and need to hydrate all of the time, especially in the summer months. We have found that drinking one in the morning just gets our bodies up and running. They are not sugary and therefore initially not a "wow how great is this" kind of drink. They also are not a "yuck what's this"! They are all a subtle energizing pleasant drink. You can get crazy and have a bit of fun using them instead of Tonic or Soda water if you know what I mean. They also are full of potassium which seems to "cure" the morning after a bit of partying. We are totally hooked and will continue to purchase them on Amazon as we can't find them anywhere locally! TamieA

5.0 out of 5 stars YUM! - and loaded with potassium, April 27, 2010

Ohhhh. This is soooo good! It's light and refreshing, like water with pineapple coconut flavor--like a weak pina colada without the liquor. It doesn't taste phony either. It tastes natural. Too good to be just flavored water. I had mine chilled. It is imported from Brazil. A plastic twist-off cap allows you to stick in a straw easily, without hammering the package to punch it through. A single package is about 6 inches high, with 3 inch diagonal square shape.

One paper coated package contains 17 fluid ounces, marked as 2 servings. Per serving stats are 60 calories (so 120 calories total per package), 0 fat, 0 cholesterol, 30mg sodium, 515 mg potassium, 16g sugar, 4 % calcium, 4 % phosphorus, 180 % vitamin C, 8 % magnesium. Ingredients, as listed in order on package are: natural coconut water, pineapple puree, coconut puree, ascorbic acid (vitamin C). The package states it is 100 % natural, has more electrolytes than leading sports drinks with 15 times the potassium, and has more potassium than 2 bananas.

So--- it is REALLY good, refreshing, healthy, easily packable, and easily openable. (It's ok. I can make up words. I work for the government.) I really like the high potassium content, too. (Note--I am NOT a doctor.) As the sweltering East Coast heat and humidity approaches, potassium helps with the fluid you lose. Whether you are on fluid pills, or working outside in the eat, or running and jogging for your health, or hiking, or your children are playing and running in the heat, it's a real good idea to keep those potassium levels up. Low potassium levels, as I understand it, can be harmful, leading to cramps in your legs or worse--maybe even making you pass out. Anyway, this is good and it sure tastes a lot better to me than Gatoraid (yuk). So, check it out, and read up on "potassium" before the heat gets here.
