5.0 out of 5 stars Very good - Green Tea Frappuccino addict
I have used this matcha daily for about 6 weeks now. It is very good for what I use it for. I make my own version of Starbucks Green Tea Frappuccino. (Once that drink name started to roll of my kids' tongues easily - I realized I was spending too much money on these drinks - and daily!)I am not familiar with various grades of matcha, but did not want something...

3.0 out of 5 stars Quality is just ok. Shipping was super fast!
Considering how much matcha you get, this product is probably a pretty good deal, especially if you're new to green tea and can't really taste much difference between grades. However, if you're used to a ceremonial matcha, this definitely isn't it and I would go elsewhere.

I agree with the reviewer before in that the shipping from Pier Mall was superfast...

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I have used this matcha daily for about 6 weeks now. It is very good for what I use it for. I make my own version of Starbucks Green Tea Frappuccino. (Once that drink name started to roll of my kids' tongues easily - I realized I was spending too much money on these drinks - and daily!)I am not familiar with various grades of matcha, but did not want something pre-sweetened or modified because I wanted to control the sugar, etc. I make my frappuccino like this: sorry - I do not measure - so you may have to modify these amounts because I am guessing!

1 1/2c milk
2 heaping spoonfuls (the spoon that's included) green tea powder
1/8c simple syrup (I make it myself and keep in fridge for week or so)
10+ice cubes (adjust to your taste - depends on size of cubes)

Blend this in a blender - longer than you think - pulse first then blend for a bit - I scrape down a bit bc the powder flies around a little and you don't want to lose any. (Simple syrup is 1c water, 1c sugar heated until sugar dissolves) It is much easier than it may sound - I make these daily in the morning. I hope this helps anyone else out there who is addicted to the GT Frappuccino - it is slightly different (I think they use a different gt powder and a honeydew syrup), but I liked mine MORE within the first week of having them!

5.0 out of 5 stars Enjoy the Green Tea Benefit in many different ways, June 9, 2006
Green tea contains antioxidants such as flavonoid, EGCG, catechins (more powerful than vitamins C and E in halting oxidative damage). It is found that green tean is an effective remedy for rheumatoid arthritis, cardiovascular disease (block the oxidation of LDL (bad) cholesterol, increase HDL (good) cholesterol and improve artery function), and certain immune deficiencies. Furthermore, the fat-burning abilities of green tea make it an excellent weight loss aid.

Among all the green tea product, green tea powder is obviously the most concentrated form of the beverage. It is the easiest way to get all the benefits of green tea!

To make green tea powder, the tea bushes are sheltered from direct sunlight about three/four weeks before harvest. This slow down the growth, and also turns the leaves a darker shade of green and and tea is sweeter. After harvesting, when the leaves are laid out to dry, the leaves crumble and then are ground to the fine, bright green powder known as matcha, which roughly has the consistency of talcum powder.

Green Tea Powder (Matcha) has many grade, just like green tea (the price can be 1000 times difference!). This brand of green tea is not the highest grade, may not be the one for Japanese tea ceremonial. However, it is very green, and not bitter at all. I found it is quite good for its price. Since I am more interested in the green tea benefit than performing tea ceremonial, I prefer this matcha to save my wallet. There are abundant of green tea powder in each tin, that allow me to have many many usages, which can be beyond the kitchen...

As Beverage:
(1) Prepare a greener and healthier green tea, by mixing some matcha into your daily cup - one of the healthiest beverages in the world

(2) Iced Tea: First mixing in a small amount in warm water until dissolved, then add to
iced water (add sugar if you wish) - a cooling refreshing drink in hot summer day!

(3) Make green tea fruit smoothie (prepare as you usually do, mix matcha with yogurt or milk and add to blender)

(4)Green Ice tea latte (matcha, honey, water (to dissolve) and milk, ice cubes). Similar for hot Green tea Latte.

As Food Enhencer:

(1) Use as flavor enhencer: add to milk, plain yogurt,

(2) Make green tea ice cream (Let Vanilla ice cream (yogurt, or frozen youart) stand until soft , mix with green tea powder, then refreeze it until hard

(3) Sprinkling a little matcha powder to soup, stew, or salad

(4) Use as an all natural food color with all the great benefits and pleasant fresh fragrance,

(5) Add to all kinds of Baking (Just add some to your favorite recipes)

(6) Mix into pasta, dash into any your favorite dishes

As Health and Beauty aid:

(1) Take small amount rub on the face as an all natural facial cleanser or facial scrub to remove make-up, clean out the oil and dirty. Great for Sensitive, irritated skin.

(2) Mix with olive oil, make a home made anti-wrinkle treatment.

(3) Mix into Shampoo, or directly apply to scalp for a gentle, yet effective cleanser.

(4) Mix with Toothpaste, or just directly apply to teeth and brush for a healthy, cleaner teeth and gum.

At last, but not least, PierMall is a great seller, very professional and effective in communication. The shipping can be greatly reduced if the order is in a large quantity, instead of one....

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for the price & health benefits!, August 10, 2006

I suppose I'm unsophisticated about matcha teas since this is the first I've tried, but I really, really enjoy this matcha. It's smooth, mellow, and slightly sweet. I'm picky about loose green teas for steeping; some of those are bitter, & I DON'T like bitter tea. So my favorite teas are this matcha & white loose leaf teas. The cost is honestly too steep for me to buy other better rated matcha for the flavor, so I'm happy I can get this much tea for the price (I've got 3 kids & a lot of other priorities; maybe when I retire...). And for the price, I'm getting all the health benefits of any other matcha (you get all the antioxidants out of matcha since you ingest the whole leaf; brewing teas often makes the extracted antioxidants bitter), plus I don't feel too guilty using it on my face, either. Perfectly nice matcha for the beginner & the frugal. Gave some to my sister, also a novice to matcha, & she loved it too. Worth a try for the price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not the best quality, but okay for the price, April 27, 2006

Teas vary greatly in quality and the price reflects that. This is a moderately price matcha tea so don't except the best flavor. It is nutritious so it may be better as a flavor additive to drinks, desserts, broth, etc. Real matcha can also be bitter and an acquired taste. Japanese often drink it with tiny sugar candies to offset the bitterness. Matcha also contains a lot of antioxidants so it may be helpful to some to stat incorporating it into their diet. If you don't like the taste an easy drink is to mix it with orange juice.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good deal on green tea..., August 22, 2006

This matcha powder came in very nice packaging with a measuring spoon to use as well. The quality of the green tea powder was a bit less than I expected (compared to my past experiences with matcha), but I think its all about quantity here - I've done a lot of creative stuff with the powder thusfar, my favorite being the homemade green tea ice cream.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great tea!, June 14, 2008
This tea is so good! I had always had a giant mug of matcha tea that I got from Whole Foods. That tea was Allegro brand. I thought it was good until Whole Foods was late getting my order in, and I bought this tea from Amazon.
I will never drink anything else! This tea is so smooth and not at all bitter.
I use a whisk to blend it in the almost boiling water, add stevia powder to sweeten, and a generous splash of vanilla soy milk.
What a great way to start the morning!

5.0 out of 5 stars So long Starbucks!, August 7, 2007
I was recently turned on to Starbucks Green Tea Frappichino. I found out what they used to make them and decided to try to make them myself.
This green tea tastes the same as Starbucks and now I make them at home all the time. I hope Vita Life Matcha will be around for a long time because I will keep ordering it for as long as I can!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good for the price!, May 13, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
My husband recently purchased another "green tea powder" at a lower price (not through Amazon!) and we realized how much better this Matcha is. We haven't tried the really expensive brands but are content with the flavor of this one so far. It does make sense to order more than one at a time as the shipping is rather high on just one.
