5.0 out of 5 stars So healthy and adds that savory Terra Cotta pot flavor, July 13, 2010

One of a kind
When you prime this (similar to a Cast Iron Skillet) it adds a rich flavor you can only get from the old clay pot cooking. It is more savory than Stainless Steel, (but I have both and love both) and the more you use it the better it gets. I love cooking brown rice and beans at the same time. Replace vege/or chicken stock for water, or put in a saffron water with the rice.

It take about 3-5 times cooking for the priming to settle in, and then it is very consistent (that is the nature of clay pots).
It is really unique and it's great.

i cooked white rice and it came out good... need to experiment with the other recipes. cleaning is snap. only thing is the lid is too hot to handle after cooking but overall i'm at peace that its not harmful to my family like the other teflon ones!

5.0 out of 5 stars I Love This Thing, January 10, 2011
This review is from: VitaClay 2-in-1 Rice ‘N Slow Cooker
I have wanted to buy a rice cooker forever, but I stay away from aluminum and no stick pans. That pretty well describes most rice cookers. I stumbled across this one and decided to give it a try. I am so glad I bought it. It is so easy to use; just plug it in and push a button. Just a hint, don't worry about measuring the water for the rice. Put your rice in, wash it and lightly place your index finger on the leveled rice, add water until it comes to the first knuckle line on your index finger. I tried their measurements and it didn't quite work out. This method produced great results with both white and brown rice.

Just don't think it is a crockpot. It is a higher heat and cooks faster. Just figure it is like the high heat on your crockpot and you will be fine.

You do have to be more careful with the clay pot, but it is worth the effort.
