Product Description

If you can't live without your existing showerhead and want the great benefits of the Vitamin C filter, this is for you. Vitamin C dechlorination has a lengthy history. It has been used in EPA and APHA methods for the dechlorination. Sonaki's Shower Filter releases the exact amount of vitamin to neutralize all chlorine or chloramines as the water passes through the shower filter. When the water is shut off, the filter stops releasing the vitamin. This economy of vitamin release increases the useful life of the filter significantly. Sonaki's Shower Filter contains roughly about 20 grams of Vitamin C and is capable of neutralizing 0.4 ppm chlorine in 10,000 litters(2,500 gallons) of water. The life time is independent on the temperature and pressure of water. The Sonaki Vitamin C filter removes chlorine or chloramines instantly allowing you to experience no stinky chlorine smell during water useage. The filters have very low maintenance cost ($1 per month) and are easy to install. They also come in an attractive see-through housing. Not plain white like all the others. Product comes in bulk-pack packaging only (no box just plactic sleeve and wrapping) with filter assembly and 1-Vitamin C filter.

4.0 out of 5 stars GOOD PRODUCT - MINOR FLAWS February 27, 2012
By T. F.
The Sonaki Vitamin C Shower Filter seems to do what it says it does. Both my wife & I live in a desert environment where the air is very dry; we noticed a significant improvement in the moisture of our skin soon after installation of the Sonaki Vitamin C Shower Filter. We are both glad we bought this filter, and would recommend it to others. However, there are some minor flaws worth mentioning.

1) The filter cartridge is supported at the closed end of the cartridge housing by a 1 inch diameter tourmaline ceramic ball. This tourmaline ceramic ball is quite fragile. In fact, the when my Sonaki Vitamin C Shower Filter initially arrived the tourmaline ceramic ball was cracked, but was quickly replaced after contacting the seller. According to the seller, "tourmaline ceramic is used to ionize the water a little bit, which has many holistic benefits, [but the] ball is not integral to the filter function.

3.0 out of 5 stars Seems to work, but no water pressure June 15, 2010
Verified Purchase
Just installed it 3 days ago. Easy to install. I've always had dry feeling skin regardless of what body lotion or cream I used. My skin does feel great the last couple of days. Skin feels moist. However, there's no water pressure from my shower anymore. I like the way my skin feels, but disappointed in what it did to water pressure. Not sure if I'll continue to use the filter. May continue the quest for a good product. Would give it 4.5 stars for how my skin feels, but 0 or 1 star for water pressure.

I was shocked at how quickly the vitamin C in this filter washed away. We are only two people in the house, and we each take one shower a day. The shower is used for a maximum of 15 minutes a day, at normal to weak pressure. We are by no means overusing it or pushing it to the limit.

I placed the order on April 12th, filter arrived on April 16th, installed on 18th. Over the next few days I noticed with increasing alarm how quickly the filter was depleting. By this morning, May 8th, the last bits of vitamin c were gone. All I have left is an empty orange cartridge full of water. That's a $56 purchase I won't be repeating.

5.0 out of 5 stars Vitamin C Inline Filter March 19, 2012
By Shmuli
I ordered this unit from another supplier, but it is the same product described here. I had been considering a filter unit, but this product came to my attention due to the following article:
which I recommend as a valuable read.

My unit installed easily and worked fine from the beginning. Yes, the cartridge is closed at the base. Yes, the cartridge has a small turbine at the front which spins to meter the Vit C. Yes, the unit removes chlorine and chloramines from the water, which is why I bought it. I no longer smell any chlorine when turning on the shower, only when using the bath faucet.

To handle chlorine/chloramines in the bath water, I just toss a couple vitamin C/ascorbic acid capsules into the water as the tub fills. You can buy such capsules cheaply anywhere.

Usage is a factor. My son takes 40 minute hot showers, which significantly affects the life of the Vitamin C cartridge. Between the five of us, I would guess three weeks life would be the maximum for our cartridges.

You can order this product from any number of sites. My product appears to have had the wrong size ceramic ball, which required a minor modification. For information on this problem, please see the excellent product review by T. Fogerty, including his further comments in reply to my problem.

I would recommend this unit for your health and recommend the above link for your information and education, if you are considering purchase of ANY shower filter system. My hair is already better, my son is using his inhaler less frequently and my twins are not getting skin rashes so frequently. Despite my unit's minor issues, I give this product five stars and highly recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't live without it! March 10, 2011

I am very sensitive to chlorine (will break out into painful rashes if I take a shower in it that will bleed if I am exposed for too long). This product makes it so I can live a normal life. It removes all of the chlorine! It is easy to install behind any shower head, and this is something we have been taking on every trip we have made for coming up on 4 years, so I can say it works and isn't a pain to install in a hurry. I have not found another product that works as well, or another product that is as easy to use. We tried one of the really expensive chlorine filters and it didn't remove any more of the chlorine and was very very hard to install due too bulk. I can truly say this is the best all purpose filter for chlorine that I have found.

Extremely good product. Was very effective - saw noticeable difference in hair and skin quality. However, replacement filters are horrible - does not do ANY kind of filtering.
