Plumer was a great Presbyterian writer of the 19th century. His writing style is very similar to that of J.C.Ryle--simple yet profound at the same time. The book contains 25 chapters on such topics as: A sense of wretchedness, Conviction and conversion, spiritual darkness, Backsliding, Faith, Repentence,Humility, the Fear of God, Hope, Love to God, Love to Christ, Love to God, Love of the brethren, Peace, Courage, Contentment, Patience, Joy, Zeal.
