The Maine Old Cemetery Association and Picton Press have finished the second special publication of Maine cemetery inscriptions in their quest to eventually publish inscriptions from all of Maine's cemeteries. Members of the Maine Old Cemetery Association have been gathering information on all of these gravestones since 1969. This second publication, the result of a great amount of work on the part of many dedicated volunteers, is much larger and even more complete than the first in 1995 of York County's cemeteries.
Due to its massive size (there are 345 cemeteries included from 31 towns in the county), this joint effort between MOCA and Picton Press is presented both on a CD-ROM in Adobe® Acrobat format and in hard cover. Acrobat is also included on the CD, if you do not already have a copy. The data on the CD-ROM can be printed out from your computer's printer, giving you a hard copy to keep in individual files if you wish.
For those researchers who prefer books, Picton Press has published a limited number of bound volumes. These will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis; so, if you would like the bound volumes, be sure to place your order now to avoid disappointment.
