5.0 out of 5 stars They're GREAT!
These muffins are the best! I, too, was paying +$5.00 for 4 muffin tops at the store and was thrilled when I found them on Amazon.com. Like the previous review, I thought the temperature was too high for baking, so I bake them at 325 degrees. I use 3/4 c. liquid egg substitute for the 3 egg whites, put 7 chocolate chips on each muffin top (I use Vitalicious silicone...

2.0 out of 5 stars Lesson Learned plus a recipe...
I made VitaMuffins in a muffin top pan with some oil spray which garnered eleven muffins following the per cup instructions. The cooking time was reduced to about 16 or 17 minutes using this method in my stove.

As these are a low calorie "diet" muffin I didn't have unrealistic expectations about flavor but still found them a bit bland straight out of the...

Vitamuffins taste good, are healthy, have a lot fiber, and are low in fat and calories. It's rare to find this combination of traits. Unfortunately, the muffins are fairly expensive - around $1 per muffintop in the store. The upside is that Vitalicious sells the mix, which enables you to make many vitamuffins for an affordable price. I bought a muffintop pan, but you can also just put muffin top liners on a baking pan.

These are the perfect afternoon stack when I'm craving something sweet. They're filling, tasty, and guilt free.

The chocolate flavor is my favorite. I actually don't like any of the other flavors.

Note that the muffins are recommended by weight watchers and hungrygirl.

I did not bake them for the specified time. I baked them for only 10 minutes in a 400 degree oven and then froze them immediately. When you take them out, microwave each one for about 35 seconds and it seems like you are eating fudge cake. I also mixed in a few chocolate bits into the batter as well as on top. Filling the paper cups half way it made about 12 muffins.

So I bought these because I started Weight Watchers and they are 1-point. I must say that they are quite good although not 5-star good. Some notes:

1. I made them both the way stated on the box and the way another reviewer suggested with egg substitute. They are MUCH better made with real egg whites as it says on the box.

2. I took other reviewers advice about the timing and would do about 350-375 degrees (my oven is old and strange) for around 22-27 minutes checking them with a wooden toothpick for readiness. Once done I would eat one and wait a bit for them to cool until putting them all in a freezer bag and storing them. Whenever I wanted one I would take one out and put it in the microwave for 25-30 seconds. Out of the microwave they tasted almost exactly the same as fresh out of the oven.

3. They are really easy to make. It takes about 5 minutes. I used just some standard muffin/cupcake tin I have lying around. I do not use muffin wrappers and instead just spray with pam or cooking spray.

4. This mix is INFINITELY better than the premade ones. I ordered them concurrently and after finish this review, I am now going to go over to the premade sampler pack I bought, Vitalicious Chocolate Super Sampler, 2-Ounce Units (Pack of 20), and give them a one star review. This is because I still have almost all of the premade ones in my freezer. I am never tempted to eat them. They taste like cardboard. Unfortunately, with the bake-your-own, I wake up in the middle of the night craving them.

5. Just a note for you Weight Watcher people. One of these = 1 point. Two of these = 3.5 points. So sad. It is hard to stop at one.

Easy to make. Add water, egg whites and chocolate chips. Way cheaper than buying the already-made type. I use the silicone baking cups so they come out beautifully. I put them in the freezer and just pull one out when I want a snack! Can't beat it for the price! Only 1 Weight Watcher point!

These Deep Chocolate Vitamuffins are unbelievably delicious. Highly recommend the mix for savings, very easy to prepare, but as others that have reviewed this product, I recommend adjusting temp and time depending on your oven. I preheat at 400 degrees then reduce to 360 degrees for 18-20 minutes, testing for doneness with a wooden toothpick inserted in the center.

These muffins really are incredible. I have to fight off the rest of the family! I disagree with the reviewers who turn down their ovens-muffins usually are baked at a high temp to get a good rise. The people who had burned muffins must have problems with their oven thermostats.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yum-O....., November 23, 2009

These vitamuffins are absolutely yummy. I first bought the already made muffins at the supermarket for $5.00, quantity of 4. I thought they were delicious but didn't want to spend so much money on just 4 muffins. Then I found the mix on Amazon and thought it was absolutely worth the money. You get 12 muffins from each box which is twice as many muffins for about the same price and they're so easy to make, you can't go wrong. Just be careful when making them though, the box says to put the oven at 400 degrees and bake for 23-27 minutes but the first box I made got burned on the bottom when I listened to those instructions. The second box I made came out perfect. I pre-heated the oven at 300 degrees and when I put them in, raised the temperature to 325 degrees and baked for approximately 17-18 minutes, checked them once in between that time. I don't know if my oven just gets too hot or what but just keep an eye on them. Other than that, it's a great and healthy snack and if you're on Weight Watchers like I am, for 1 point a muffin, you just can't get anything better than that to satisfy that chocolate craving.

Buying the mix in place of the frozen already baked product saves so much money. They are easy to throw together and you just put them in the freezer and defrost them one at a time. More than satisfy that chocolate craving.
