My wife and I got a blender as a wedding gift, 3 months later, it was broken. So we bought another blender for $50 and a year later (after minimal use) it was broken. Then I worked at a company that gave you "reward points" for doing good work...it was an employee incentive program. After two years of accruing points, I got this Vita-Mix. Nothing compares to it. Smoothies are smooth. It makes excellent margaritas, grasshoppers, and daiquiris. I use the blender at least every other day. We got rid of our food processor and juicer and coffee grinder, because this blender does all those things perfectly. It's amazing at chopping up onions too. I cannot say enough good things about this blender. It is worth the money, because you know this blender will last forever. I've never had any problem with it.

It is expensive, and without the employee incentive program, I would never have owned one. But if this one ever breaks, getting a new one will be something I budget for.

In spite of trepidation over price and some of the reviews (and some confusion over the models), we bought the Vita-Mix and haven't looked back. It's all positive--how it works, how it cleans up, the possibilities it opens. We've used it mainly for juicing, smoothies, green drinks. We subscribe to a community farm program and haven't always used everything from our weekly box of produce. Now we do. What we don't cook or preserve, we make into nutritious drinks. The one kind of negative was when the motor's overheating protection kicked in when I had the container jammed with frozen peaches and other ingredients. I had to wait it out until it would work again. There's no clear indication, either in the machine or in the documentation about how long that takes. We were making a huge batch of "vegan ice cream" for guests. Fortunately, I'd started early, so the Vita-Mix reset itself in time to get the batch finished (it again shut itself down, but right at the end of the process). Even though that was a bit frustrating, it was not a disaster, partly because the timing was still ok and partly because I'd read about how that protects both the motor and me from expensive repairs. As it turned out, the dessert was well worth it. The eight people we served all thought the dessert was spectacular. One said it was the best dessert he'd ever had in his life. Hard to keep worrying about one hiccup in the process with that kind of result. We use it essentially every day and already can't imagine life without it. (Oh, yeah, and the solution to the overheating issue with the dessert we made. Things I'll do next time: start earlier, make smaller batches, and make sure there's a liquid or soft ingredient at the bottom so the blades get a head start.) I have used this blender for approxamately 6 weeks at least twice a day. It is wonderful. So powerful. I love the way it cleans up. so easy! I can't say enough. I love it so much I am buying one for my daughter.

This big powerful machine does it all. The variable speeds allow me to put ingredients in at low speeds without throwing food all over the kitchen. I eat more nutritious foods now because they are so easy to process into soups. I also make nutritious breakfasts with lots of fruits. I bought a large and a small container but I should have bought two large ones. The small ones don't hold enough for me. You won't go wrong with this great blender.

This is a bogus listing. This model is not a "restaurant commercial blender" . It is a great VitaMix product but totally different than those sold for commercial restaurant use.

Got this after killing 2 <$100 blenders in one year. Wife blended frozen strawberries in ten seconds on the lowest setting and now we're hooked. Looks good, works awesome.

The machine broke on me and I called a representative. I told her multiple times it was broken and wouldn't turn on and she kept telling me it wasn't broken! Then she argued with me about it and I asked for the manager to take care of it. She told me no she didn't care and hung up on me. My machine is under a 7 year warranty so they need to take care of this.
