Great storage for pet food!,
By maxthebadcat (Frederick, MD) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Vittles Vault 40-Pound Stackable (Misc.)
I've been using the Vittles Vault for several months now, one for dog food and one for cat food. None of the animals have even TRIED to chew into it, I think because the screw-on lids really do seal in the smell. I have one stacked on top of the other, so they are very space efficient. One thing I really like about this product is that it keeps the product fresh and fresh-smelling, without adding that nasty plastic smell. I go through a lot of feed with 4 dogs and 6 cats. Vittle Vault protects my feed investment from scavengers of all sizes and keeps the feed smelling as good as the day I opened the original bag. I've tried other containers, and this is by far the best! I use the size that holds 40 lbs of dry dog food, so I can easily move it needed, even when it's full. I have proven opinions on a lot of pet products, and this one is great!

Great containers, but NOT squirrel-proof!,
By Ian Douglas (Massachusetts) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Vittles Vault 40-Pound Stackable (Misc.)
I bought two of these containers to store bird and squirrel food outside. Squirrels and raccoons couldn't open the lids. However, after a couple of weeks, the squirrels learned that they could chew through them and there is now 40 lbs of nuts and seeds on my deck. These containers are great, but store them either inside or in a metal cabinet outside.Regards, Ian

Perfect!,

I purchase flour in 25 or 50lb bags to save money. Unfortunately I have had to leave it in the bag. I tried other plastic containers but they were all difficult to open, hard to get to, and never sealed tight. This container is GREAT! The seal is air tight, very easy to open, and does not make a mess when I open it up. The plastic is thick so the container does not bend or twist. Finally, its shape is perfect for me. I can stack three on top of each other (bread flour, whole wheat, and rye) and still open each one up. Try that with other large containers!

Love it - but it DOES NOT hold even 30lbs of food,

We really like this container. Its low to the ground (so the kids can feed the dog unassisted), its easy to fill and seals up nicely. What I DO NOT like is that even though it says it will hold 40+ lbs of dog food - it doesn't even completely hold the 30lb bags of Nutro we buy for our dog. I would have gladly purchased the 60+lb. container (as its actually a few bucks less $) but wanted to go with a smaller size simply for convenience. Had I known it wouldn't hold a whole dog food bag - I would have been OK with the extra size of the larger one. SO be warned - if you want your container to hold an entire 30lb bag of dog food - buy the bigger one.

This unit is set apart from others in that there is no plastic locking flap that will eventually break from use or rubber weatherproofing strips that wear out. Instead, it's threaded like a jar. Wide mouth allows your whole hand to easily fit inside when scooping out food at low volume. Solid timeless design.

Bottom Vault Caved In (Stack of 3),
This review is from: Vittles Vault 60-Pound Stackable (Misc.)
I own 3 60lb Vittle Vaults which I stacked about 6 months ago.1) The bottom vault holds dog food-largest bag possible and it fits! 2) The middle vault holds cat food. I put 2 medium sized bags of cat food in the center vault. It does not fill it up by any means as the insides of these things are huge. I only purchased the 60lb vault so it would stack on the bottom vault. 3) The top vault holds excess plastic bags, paper bags ect which I reuse around the house or take to the library to recycle. The bags are not heavy. The bottom vault caved a little on the left side causing the 2 on the top to lean then eventually tumble off. At first, I kept trying to straighten the top 2 and they would gradually tilt again. When the top 2 finally fell, I noticed the bottom vault left side was indented. I pushed the dent out and restacked the 3 vaults. However, once weakened, it doesn't take much to start it caving in again so they fall off. I reshuffled the vaults putting the dog food in the plastic bag vault and visa versa and then put the dog food vault back on the bottom. No problems in 2 months so far. Also, the plastic inside ring along the inside of one of the lids falls out easily which is annoying but not a big deal to put back on. They do keep out insects and keep things tidy in a small footprint.

Great item,
This review is from: Vittles Vault 40-Pound Stackable (Misc.)
My dog gets kibble that not only costs $60 a bag, but I have to travel two counties away to get it. With the 80 pound container I can safely store 2 large bags, and it is always fresh and I can feed every last drop. No more ripped bags, spilled food, or stale remnants. A bit of an investment but worth every penny.

Really air-tight storage,
By Mark G (Becket, MA) - See all my reviews

I use this to custom mix and store large amounts of cat food for my 5 cats (soon to be 6). It is truly air-tight and I think it could stand up to anything. If you have a huge dog who gets into food this would easily stand up to any abuse. I bet a bear could not get into this if I stored my bird seed outside. Highly recommended.

best pet food storage made,

We're getting ready to buy a second "Vault" to hold puppy food; we've been using our first Vault to store adult dog food. The Vault is the only food storage item we've ever found that you can leave out there in the garage with four large dogs, and they can bite it, knock it over, push it around, jump on it, spill their water bowl by it, etc., and nothing affects the contents or allows them to access the contents. It is truly airtight and watertight, but easy to open and close rapidly with a "spin" of the large cap, which has a well-designed screw-on system.
