Product Description

The Vittoria Zaffiro Pro II Clincher Tire fulfills a wide variety of needs to an equally wide variety of riders. Constructed with Vittoria's durable Aramid Endura compound, the Zaffiro Pro II is built to roll fast, far, and without incident. The nylon Puncture Resistant Belt (PRB) found in Vittoria's higher-tier rubber, like the Open Corsa and the Rubino, is also used here. The Zaffiro Pro II accomplishes all this without adding an exceptional amount of rotating weight. Its newly developed tread, with deeper grooves in the middle and shallower shoulders, means you'll get excellent cornering in both wet and dry conditions. Since it's a 60 TPI tire, the overall cost is reasonably low for the high-quality performance. Black tread with black sidewalls only, leaving you to choose from 700C x 23mm or 25mm widths.

This tire was very simple to Install with a tire lever.

Obviously some people give these a bad review because they got a flat, but that's hardly fair considering you can get a flat on any tire, any time.

Not the best looking tire but it seems to be of great quality.

I have used different road bike tires in the past such as the Michellin series, Continental ultra-race, CST comps, Kendas (they all perform very poorly) and any size piece of broken glass particle will puncture them all easily and will destroy your inner tube. These tires are nothing when compared to the Vittoria Zaffiro Pro 2 tires. Vittoria Zaff Pro 2s' are "single shielded wire-bead" and can withstand glass on the road quite well even after the tread is worn. I tested this out over the course of my first 300 miles of biking around the city, running over glass everywhere & it held out without any flats. Objects this tire CANNOT withstand are sharp metal debris such as (bolts, needles, large staples, etc..) or notorious goat-head thorns (it punctured through my new rear tire and new tube(at the wire bead -- strongest area) on my second day of riding. I haven't tested rose thorns yet but I'm a little discouraged to do so b/c of the early puncture... A notable feature on the Zaff Pro IIs are dimples on the edges of the tires (used for rain conditions) but also in dry conditions, these do grip the concrete road very very well. I'll update this review again soon if I happen to come across anymore punctures.

By the way, you shouldn't pay more than 30 bucks per tire + tax. I had my pair for about 50 bucks shipped.

If you have the money and want even better tires, buy the Vittoria Randonneurs (double-shielded something material ) or the famous Continental Gatorskins (kevlar belt!)...these two tires are beast and many people on bike forums swear by them. Both are more expensive than Zaffiro Pro IIs & both perform similarly. Randos go for about 28 - 33 bucks per tire and Gatorskins ranges around similar or higher than Randos.

If you don't have the money get the 2nd best -- Vittoria Zaffiro Pro II!!

Hope this helped. Avoid the thorns!

Not the best looking tire but it seems to be of great quality. Smooth and relatively quick ride with no flats thus far. I really like the 145psi max even though I only go about 120psi.

*****Update******
I don't ride too often so I was pretty disappointed when recently I blew out a tire and it literally blew a hole in the side of my rear tire. It only had about 100 miles on it and I had to purchase a new one so this may not be a 5 star tire after all.

I really like these tires (700 x 25)--they ride great and seem to hold up very well. I have several hundred miles on my set(s), and the rear tire is just now starting to show a little wear. In central Illinois, I ride mostly on chip/seal county roads and flats have not been a problem. I weigh 165 lbs--run 85 rear and 80 front--and have never had a pinch flat. It feels like riding on velvet. The few times I have ridden in the rain, I felt very confident on these tires.

I run these tires on 2 different sets of wheels. The ease of putting on tires is as much a function of the rim as the tire--and I put these on by hand, with no special tools. I do have to use bicycle tire irons to remove them, though.

I think most riders will think of these as "training tires", but I would not hesitate to race on these (21 years racing experience).

I replace brand new Continental GatorSkins with this tire because the lest amount of water on the road and my rear tire would slide out. I found that the Vittoria Zaffiro Pro lessen the problem and rides better. This is the second set I have used.

The price/performance ratio seemed great for the first six months or so, and then I truly learned the limitations of inexpensive 23c road tires. I rode them daily on the road and didn't have a single puncture, until I hit some gravel. My training route hit a gravel section at the top of a climb, and three consecutive mornings I had punctures on the gravel... the last one taking a huge chunk out of the contact surface of the front tire. I patched the inside of the tire (and the tube) and made it home, but retired them after that. I was concerned that when I first got them they looked to be delaminating after about a week of riding, but they held up just fine until the gravel. So if you are riding road only, these will probably suit you fine as an inexpensive, relatively puncture resistant tire, but know their limitations!

This tire was very simple to Install with a tire lever. I had no trouble at all getting these on the rim. These replaced old 700x28 tires on a road bike that I hadn't been used in a few years. I have about 100 miles on these so far and no flats or issues. I'm not a serious rider who puts in many miles every week on this thing, but so far these have been riding smooth on both dry and wet and seem to be a great replacement for my low-end bike which I use for fun to cruise as a change of pace from using a hybrid.

I have now bought 3 of the tires. I bought a pair and put 1,100 miles on it before I get my first flat. My rear tire took a side puncture. After getting home and examining the tire, I decided it was best to retire the tire, I had about an 1/8 of an inch circular hole in it. So I did my best to patch and and now hang on to it for a backup if I destroy a tire even more.

I run the 700x25 size at 105psi (I'm 210lbs) and have yet to get a pinch fast. These tires roll extremely well and fast.
